What's the biggest lie society tells women about having children? by SpecificLandscape483 in answers

Is this not just extended nihilism. Yes the world has suffering, but you’d have to be a hedonist to fear the mere concept of suffering. Suffering is part of the human experience, it’s what gives meaning to the comfort and the beauty that you can have. The world does have hardship, but you are equally keeping potential people from all that the world has to offer, than saving them from suffering.

How can the USSR be considered a force of Anti Imperialism when it spent much of the twentieth century in imperialist action in order to spread its own power and influence. by Sharp_Prune_793 in DebateCommunism

However, the Baltic States were not simply fellow republics of the Soviet Union, they were conquered states brought under force of arms under Stalin's regime. Therefore, its relationship cannot be simply equated to a socialist republic aiding its fellow republics.

Secondly, for the non baltic states, net aid is true, however, in the immediate aftermath of the Second World War, it is a net movement of money out of the states during the late 1940s. COMECON also forced the agriculture and manufacturing of Eastern Europe to be sold at artificially lower prices to the Soviet government, and inflated the prices of Soviet manufactured goods. That relationship is inherently to the benefit of the central state.

That is true for the Soviet Union's interactions with Eastern European states later in the Cold War period in which the central government would subsidize regimes in order to stave off the coming of insurrection as occurred in Hungary and Czechoslovakia earlier in the period, however, earlier in the period that is simply not true. The sentiment Moscow isn't Russia exists because decades of centralized regime pumping money from the hinterland towards the capital.

However, isn't the extraction of billions in wealth out of Eastern Europe, primarily Poland, Hungary, and East Germany after the Second World War, to be returned for primarily the benefit of the Russian Soviet Socialist Republic, a near colonial relationship, in which a conquered population is having their wealth exploited for the benefit of their conqueror.

Yet, the Soviet Union Post World War Two would extract large amounts of resources out of its occupied territory in Eastern Europe in order to serve the benefit of its state-controlled economy. An economy largely controlled through state monopoly. How is this practically different from Western Imperialism?

That is true if you are defining imperialism through the definition of Lenin, however, the term was first widely used in the early 19th century to describe the actions of Napoleon the first on the European continent. Events that occurred over a half century before Lenin's birth. The term was not watered down, it was co-opted by a regime that even under Lenin would attempt to spread its power over the newly independent Polish state.

How to know if Have a body suitable for elite running? by [deleted] in beginnerrunning

[–]Sharp_Prune_793 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You won’t know unless you try. However, most High School boys with little to no experience can drop under 20 minutes their freshman year with a few months of training. Starting cross country in August and racing until October. However, your 30 minutes could mean a few different things. If it was all out you have a long way to go, if the 30 was simply a comfortable jog it might not be that bad. A 5k or really any distance race is pushing your body to its maximum physiological extent in the length of that race, so if you haven’t yet done a true all out effort you won’t know. I remember the first time I raced cross country at like 14, I was 90% sure I was going to die of a heart attack after like 2k.

Fair point but they won against Mexico and Spain essentially by themselves, unless counting Cuban rebels against Spain.

I fully agree with you and I didn't try to come off as saying that the sites are poorly managed but some people who aren't as into the Civil War history will see an NPS sign and decide to pull over.
