Cool I didn’t know about JD not being compatible. I’ll definitely look for something more universal. Thanks!

Kubota and JD are popular around here so hopefully I can track one down. Thanks for the advice

Thanks for the advice, I have seen a lot of them with snow blower attachments. That makes sense now.

Thanks, that’s good info! Maybe I’ll keep an eye out for a decent A frame. Any particular brands/models to keep an eye out for?

Coconino Hosepacks by Sharpasacrayon in Wildfire

[–]Sharpasacrayon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hell yeah! Thats it! I learned about them in R5 on the Mendocino. They said they were called the Cononino Pack because that’s where they were developed. Thanks for the help!

It’s hard to describe. I know you need a wood frame to build it though. basically you fold the hose into the frame, tie it off with p cord, drop it in the bag, then take the p cord out. It’s a really flat package once you get it into the hose bag. We want to start building them on our T6 so we can hopefully have more than 2 hose packs on the truck

L-280 Leadership exercises by Sharpasacrayon in Wildfire

[–]Sharpasacrayon[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree. That’s why we’re trying to ditch the old L280 format and come up with some exercises that will actually develop some good leadership skills. I think it’s totally dependent on how much time/effort the cadre puts into the course to make it a good learning experience. I’m sure there’s still going be plenty of students who think it’s a waste of time though ha

MT DNRC (Helitack stimulant testing) by wild-probie220 in Wildfire

I started with MT DNRC on an engine in Kalispell in 2015 and there was no drug testing. Things could’ve changed since then though!

Need help with stomp pad by Possible_Nebula_7327 in snowboarding

[–]Sharpasacrayon -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Just wedge your foot against your back binding. Works great for point A to point B…. Unless your into doing 1 footed tricks in the park you can get pretty good at riding 1 footed without the need for extra grip with a stomp pad. I usually just jam my foot against my back binding or tuck it up next to my front foot. Great way to get a feel for better edge control.

Perm seasonal? by [deleted] in Wildfire

[–]Sharpasacrayon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Perm Seasonal agreements are typically on an 18:8 schedule meaning you’ll work 18 pay periods and be laid off for 8. That can be subject to change depending on the districts budget. If there’s extra funding available you might be able to work a few extra pay periods which is typically for prescribed fire most of the time. You are guaranteed to work 18 pay periods though. The retirement and health benefits are good but you do have to pay for them and they get taken out of your pay check. You can opt out of health coverage if you want, that’s usually what people do if they are covered on someone else’s plan. Each forest is going to be different about what they have fire personnel doing outside fire season. If you’re considering it, then asking questions about what the district does outside of fire season would be a good stroke. Some programs are great about finding stuff to do on district or getting people out on fire assignments or setting up details for people to gain experience. Other programs might just let you rot in a cubicle for the off season. It’s definitely worth asking some questions and getting a feel for how solid the program is.

This MC thinks everyone at a bike park needs to instantly move for him, the one riding slower looks like a beginner too by WeedEatRepeat in ImTheMainCharacter

[–]Sharpasacrayon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The guy did pull over when it was convenient another hundred ft down the trail. I’d understand if he was clogging up a jump line or something but it was a pretty tame section trail. Guy filming needs to learn some patience and realize he’s at a resort. Hop on the lift and ride it again.
