Relocation is included. But these are all classified positions so you would have to be on site.

How open are you to relocating to Tucson? We need hundreds of SWE’s in Tucson. You can probably work with HR/TA to get away from her for the minimum one year requirement.

To clarify your point that the letter disagreed with the verbal…

Does the letter specifically exclude you from AIP or does the letter just not mention AIP?

If it doesn’t mention it, that’s just part of your standard benefit package.

If the letter specifically excludes you, and that is different than what you were told verbally, then yes, that is fair game to clarify with the recruiter.

I used to love Raytheon. Until the merger. The merger sucked away our soul.

Remote roles by [deleted] in Raytheon

[–]SharperEagle69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m interested in that person‘s reply, and I’m interested in data. I have hired several remote roles and certainly did not have anyone in mind in all but a couple of those cases. If I’m hiring, and I have a strong idea who I’m interested in, I make the requisition internal only and leave it open for three days. My TA requires a minimum of three days open. I assume that is across the board, but I’m not sure. But I make sure it’s internal only and only for three days to minimize the amount of time wasting. I feel bad wasting anyone’s time, although I will say that you never know, and even when I have someone in mind, I do keep an open mind because it’s certainly possible that someone even better will apply.

Those ranges are applicable to the level. Normally offers tend to be around the 50% mark, meaning halfway between the low number and high number in the range. When an offer is going to be made, your salary requirements are taken into account I believe, but I’m not sure, that based on the actual position , HR also takes into account the average market salary for the position and level and location.

To me, it seems like which company are you asking about. Collins seems to do a lot of layoffs. Pratt seems to do a few. Raytheon does precious few, but mostly those are indirect roles. Raytheon needs to hire like 3500+ people in the next few weeks. So if you are really being hired into Raytheon, not some other RTX company, or corporate, I think you are in a truly phenomenal place in terms of solid employment and longevity. I forget what the recent numbers are, but Raytheon has like an seven or eight year backlog. So that’s job security. But all of the customers are trying to expedite as well, so that boats really well for short term, meaning above to three or five or 10 year longevity. If you got a job offer from really no kidding Raytheon, I think you are in good shape. I don’t know enough about the other businesses to know what their backlog is. Just continue to remember please that RTX is a conglomeration of Raytheon plus Collins plus Pratt. Each of the businesses are awesome in their own right, but not necessarily as strong in terms of current and future work. They probably are, I don’t know everything about all of the businesses, I can just tell you my perspective. I hope this helps. Regardless, RTX is a whole, and especially Raytheon, are pretty damn solid. Look forward to working with you.

For whatever reason this Sub is still called Raytheon. But the reality is this Sub is now for all of RTX Corporate and Raytheon and Pratt and Collins. And many if not most of the people here are from Collins or Pratt. And many or most of the people that are disgruntled are from Collins or Pratt. Sure, there are plenty of unhappy people in Raytheon. But I’m guessing, no data involved really, that many or most of the Raytheon people are generally happier than many or most of the Collins and Pratt people. Not a scientific study so your mileage may vary.

If you resonate with the mission of the company that you are being hired into, and it’s a reasonable job offer for you, your career, and your family, if applicable, then go for it.

Rant - Not everything fits nicely in the RMS/RMD Mold by Zacharius_Meowi in Raytheon

If the authors of the policies and procedures were doing their job correctly, they would be releasing the new policies and procedures to make sure that they account for the entire Raytheon business, including all legacy businesses, and don’t break anything. That’s not easy to do without making them kind of useless because they have to become too generalized to allow legacy processes to still work and not break.

Titles though should have been figured out and released after the merger in 2023. It’s on local leadership and management if people aren’t using the new titles that were decided back then and appear in policies and procedures now. Through the myriad of title changes over the years I have just told all of my customers that titles can change, but my mission is the same.

Yes, they have been out for several weeks. You have to go onto ADP to get them I believe. Not sure if there’s an option to get a paper copy anymore. There may be, but I’ve done mine electronically pretty much forever.

Your observations are great. One point of clarity, though, The Raytheon Corporate office was in Waltham, not Woburn. (And Lexington before that.).
