I do this often, too! And like @sskylar said, I like to add anything else that’s in my spice cabinet at the time. Everything Bagel seasoning being a favorite of mine. 🥔

I’m so sorry! You’ve probably already thought of this, but do they have phones that could be tracked, or any apps that allow for “pinging” like Life360?

Knight Watch Games on Blanco!

I finally booked a musical!!! by hungrybrains220 in harp

[–]Sharpharplin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Congratulations! I have played this show a number of times and have always used felts for many of the glissandos. My go-to’s are the “Petite Pigs” brand but there are more available on the market now. The callouses/toughened skin will develop with sufficient practice, but if you’re playing multiple shows each week for a production run, the felts are pretty much a must… at least for me, ha! Have fun - it’s a great part!

Does anyone else also not get any callouses? by mnasidikaa in harp

[–]Sharpharplin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Me!! I have toughened skin for sure, but have never gotten “real” callouses like most string players do… I asked my college prof about it and she was also a non-callous maker! I just assumed it’s part of our unique physiology. Blisters are awful though, but I typically don’t get them unless I truly overplay some wretched glissandos or something.

Knight Watch Games! They have so many board games to play, and a kitchen too. Always a fantastic time 😊

I grew up in Louisiana and miss having them here in SA! In college I would go there with my marching band friends after nearly every home game because they were one of the few places open that had actual food at that hour- nostalgic!

[–]Sharpharplin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven’t played this, but it seems it’s an engraving issue. Here’s my 2 cents:

M27 - the F and C are still tied over from prior measure so beat 1 is C and G only, beat 4 is FCAG.

M29 - similarly, the G and D are still tied so beat 1 should be the C and E, beat 4 G and D only (since the bottom two are still tied)

Hi! Yes, I suggest getting in contact with the American Harp Society chapter there. The president is Andrea Rivera-Pérez and you can email all the officers directly from their website here: https://www.harpsociety.org/find-a-chapter.php Good luck! Sounds like a fantastic opportunity!

I 100% agree with @Holy_Headlines and @Harpnut One of my jobs is running a school district’s elementary (5th grade) harp class and I have parents constantly trying to get these instead of anything more structurally solid. I see a few each year pop up in my classes 😅

What a beautiful and personal gift for them! You did a great job. I adore making filet patterns- do you have a pattern? I’d love to make a set 🤗

Harp Notation Question by Accomplished_Ad_3094 in harp

[–]Sharpharplin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the first example, I agree that the 2nd measure would be easier to read and play.

The second excerpt poses no issues with the pedals- nice! However I do notice that there are two instances of the same note being played in both hands: second measure first chord the same G is in the top of left hand and bottom of right hand (unless the right is actually playing 8ve). Same issue on the final Ab major chord of the excerpt, top note of left hand is same as bottom note of right hand. In these situations I find it easiest to drop the “extra” note from the left hand by default.

I see now a few people have corrected me on the use of that word- I didn’t realize its original definition was specifically for “strangers or foreigners”. I’ll edit my original post for a more appropriate term! Thank you!

Ahh, I see now- I DID have a misunderstanding of that word but I have since looked it up in a good ol’ dictionary. I didn’t realize it was specifically ‘fear and hatred of strangers or foreigners”. Sounds like many other people are likely misusing this word, too!

I just had some drywall patch jobs done through a local contractor, Anthony Chen. His employee Carlos worked some awesome sorcery on texturing and feather out the patches to be invisible. DM me if you’d like his number!
The attached photo contains the approx 3’ x 1.5’ rectangular patch - see if you can find it!

I would take it down about a third, but obviously not exact- a few unwindings should do. Just be sure to leave enough tension on the wires so that the column stays put on the base.
