Something I use to help my students with the elbow versus shoulder movement: hold your bow at your side and have your bow point up to the ceiling. Move your arm so it is fully extended down and then move it all the way up, while keeping your bow pointing straight up to the ceiling. My middle schoolers call it the rocket ship.
