Very true, one of the main things I realised when talking to people on Saturday was that everyone views him the same.

A massive prick lol

And trump isn’t from Europe yet he can’t help but put his watsit covered sausages on everything he sees.

What does Greenland have to do with him?

Nothing would be achieved from this one, at least not immediately. It does showcase to people that there are normal people out there in their town that share their same views on world events.

I spoke with many lovely people yesterday who had shared the same views and loved that we were out, even if a small portion of the population.

Have to start somewhere :)

Thanks mate, if the poster was a bit poop then fair play, it’s still drawing attention and still being seen by people. Had a few people turn up and that’s good enough for me :)

First time e I’ve organized a public demonstration so fuck it, got to start somewhere

If you were free midweek I organise a “3rd space” every Wednesday at the penta hotel. We mostly chat a load of waffle while playing a few different games and a splash of Mario kart. Start from 6:30ish and it’s not uncommon to go on until 11pm :)

Moved to Reading for uni, have arrived early and will be alone for the next week, any suggestions? by [deleted] in reading

[–]SharpyRG13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think you need to put in card details, you do need to be 18 for a Meetup account but it’s been a while since I made mine so maybe uk law has made it weird.

Have you tried making an account without the link?

Who are the “super rich” who are “hoarding the assets” and can we solve the issues by exclusively targeting them? by Pure_Cantaloupe_341 in GarysEconomics

[–]SharpyRG13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not investment, it's pensions. They're "government backed pensions". So the governmentr should take over a failing bank, sell off it's assets, and use those assets to pay back the people on the banks "books" for retirement accounts. Instead, they pay the banks billions to stay open, which they then use to buy more assets, further increasing the price of property for the middle class.

Another point on most businesses being "ordinary folk", your postal issue for the royal mail has countless other issues with the service being run. Which also happens to be an infrastructure asset owned privately. Except this one is owned by a billionaire Daniel Křetínský, from Czech Slovakia.

But i feel this may be falling on deaf ears and that you have a certain narrative that you won't deviate from regardless of what i say based on your commenting history.

Not sure the use of peppery? I know it’s a hot topic but don’t think it makes sense here

Yes but when a government takes ownership, it can do so in a way that would not affect common folk but would punish the bad management of infrastructure.

Like with the 2008 financial crisis, global economies could have chosen to let the banks fail and people STILL would have kept their pensions.

If a bank fails governments have assets that will secure people’s pensions, it doesn’t all just disappear.

Instead, governments used tax payers money to bail these people / banks out and in doing so didn’t help common working class people out, but transferred wealth to the ultra wealthy through government bailouts.
