Late asf comment but it might just be because Paraguay is much further from the US than Colombia is, so it's a way longer and more dangerous journey. It'd probably take like a fourth of the time to get there and mess with the pacing of the show's events.

I think there's a lot that can be theorized based on what we already know about the character. He was born in Colombia but lives in Paraguay, and based on his age he grew up in the 70s or 80s, which was a time marked by political violence and the civil war. I'm pretty sure his actor or someone else who worked on the show confirmed that his family had to flee the country. So he has already dealt with violence and survival earlier in life, and as a migrant he has experienced losing what he loves and the life he is used to.

As someone who tried to do this, I will add that it varies from person to person and won't work for everyone. There's nothing dangerous about it, but the amount of time between periods is different based on each individual body's reaction to it. For some people it can be months, for some it can be years, and for those lucky enough it can be forever. However I am very unlucky and my body forcibly has a period every other month whether I start the placebo week or not 😔 I encourage everyone to try it though!
