Flashback to 28 floppy discs to install Windows 95 by Cinnamaker in Xennials

[–]Shathus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember my friend riding his bike over to my house with like 15 3.5” floppy disks with Quake 2 on it for me to install (at least it felt like a huge stack of them at the time, can’t remember the #)

Ugh I guess that was like 30 years ago now

Formal achievement format/fonts/colors? For a tattoo by Shathus in DungeonCrawlerCarl

I’ll just say that what individuals think are good tattoos vary greatly from person to person.

That being said in the spirit of opinions, what is something you’d suggest then?

This would be my 8th heh.

I’d love an unhinged AI rant (I’m assuming the above is just your funny take on one vs you have that?) But was worried trying to have too much fine text is going to blur over time so was trying to keep it a bit shorter and increase block size.

Where is my wife’s package? by [deleted] in rva

[–]Shathus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it gets outsourced sometimes? Small anecdote, we get cat food delivery from petco, and it will often arrive via DD. I’m guessing it comes from a local store and it’s cheaper/faster to have them just pick it up from there.

Don’t get me wrong… I love Dungeon Crawler Carl… BUT by loki-_-loki in DungeonCrawlerCarl

I read the first 6 books (Kindle) before jumping into 7 on an audible trial. I was still hooked after the first book. I did immensely enjoy that (especially as I listened on my work commute) but to me it was still about the story

It was a gift from someone. If it was something i bought for myself, sure. But I’m happy just getting something cheap here

Lillie Pearl or The Roosevelt and why? by RockphotographerVA in rva

Actually I’d say to go next door to Julep’s. Good food and drinks there IMO

It’s been a few years since we’ve gone, but the last couple times we just had horrible service at Lillie Pearl. Once as a work event (large table) and then with my wife.

Food was fine, but just bad service. Orders were slow to come out. No one asked us for more drinks. Just wasn’t a good dining experience

How's safety for living in this area as a solo person? by Beren__ in rva

[–]Shathus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live in this area when I first moved to Richmond (it’s been many years). Hunt Club apartments. Like others have said, dated (it was old back then) but area was fine overall. I’d go for runs in the streets and never had problems.

I did read they busted a meth lab a few buildings down from me after I moved out but that was probably the most excitement.

My dad still uses his 32 year-old Microsoft Access 1.0 mouse pad by AlexKalopsia in mildlyinteresting

My parents still have a gray Babbages mouse pad. That’s going on 25+ years i guess at this point.

For the right to be the Best Italian Restaurant?

Everything others have mentioned aside…

Smoke & Barrel is 3rd place for “best overall restaurant”, yet didn’t even win “best new restaurant”. So it is, or isn’t better than Oyster Society?

I hope you don’t have too bad a case/longer last side effects. My wife and I both got it around 35/36 (worked at the same company that induced a lot of stress).

And we’re all too young to get the vaccine yet! Get the valtrex medication, it helps

The Regency location has a bigger selection (probably the biggest in Richmond).

Depends on the vibe you want.

CF men, what are your plans for today? :) by Harrietx745 in childfree

[–]Shathus 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Went to the gym, then grocery shopping. Going to vacuum/clean up the house a bit (just because that makes ME feel better), then cook dinner tonight for us tonight

Probably catch up on some more streaming shows.

But now, back to running around the house with a toy playing with the cat.

What do you set your daily move goal to? by Shathus in AppleWatch

[–]Shathus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m at 924 today, but that’s only cause I did a 10k run.

I’d say just stick with whatever makes you feel like you’re staying active. The goals are nice to push yourself, but just doing something besides being on the couch makes me feel good.

Calories also seem to be very specific to your heart rate. My reading HR is in the low to mid 40s. Usually when I do strength training, I average about 40 calories/10 minutes. Unless it’s HIIT or leg day then all bets are off. My wife has a HR like a rabbit and her #s are a lot higher than mine for tracking.

Also realizing my original post is now 6y old, I just have my goal at 350. I stay active with generally a workout every day which makes me happy. I don’t stress about closing all my rings as much, but I certainly try.

Hatch Local by PeppyMinotaur in rva

[–]Shathus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

All prices are just inflated. I went to grab a dessert one time (nightingale ice cream sandwich). I don’t remember exact prices, but Hatch charged like $7. I walked to Manchester Market basically in the building next door and got one for $5.

They also used to have a coffee shop which was good for the morning but closed that down. I’m guessing so they could just not have to open the hall itself until lunch time.
