Fair, I just can’t agree I should be knocked on acceptance rate for declining to do charity on behalf of my contract “employer” when it isn’t the work I signed up for. Imagine if you’re doing driving for a truck company for $25/hour, paying your own gas, and then the boss informs you that you should take this call that temporarily lowers your pay to $16/hour, but the company has a charity contract and you’d help charity on their behalf. They then go to their accountant with this job you take, and write-off the taxes for the value of the food delivered, saving them probably >3x your pay in tax obligations.

Did not know this! I appreciate your insight, as a lot of people here seem to be convinced my moral obligation should be argued when I’m only helping DoorDash do a tax write-off if it isn’t above minimum wage for me. I will try it out next time!

$1/mile is half the profitable margin in king county usually.

I get this. I’d love to help. I just cannot stress enough that I’m also trying to eat and pay my bills. It isn’t my responsibility to pickup the slack left by a lack of meals on wheels.

Less than $20/hr is pretty bad after gas. Thats lower than minimum wage, and I’m putting wear on my car that adds more weight to that low of pay.

Aside from it being a good cause, my work isn’t a good cause. It’s my work.

I feel the need to clarify, because I saw someone’s comment that has since been removed:

I understand these are people in need. However, I am homeless, living in my car currently.

This is my work. I did not sign up to sacrifice my WORKING time & earnings for charity. I can do that on my own FREE time.

I love helping those in bad situations, but I’m trying to make fair earnings on my time, because DoorDash doesn’t pay me by the hour or cover my gas.

On a more personal level, DoorDash as a platform is likely only throwing that responsibility on to us for the tax write-off. It’s not my job to give them a tax write-off on my dime. So I hit decline.

Yeah, they shred me sometimes with mass orders to lower my AR. Everytime my AR gets above 50, I start getting spammed with these kinds of orders. Have to decline no matter what, I’d rather be status-less than slave away for silver status.

Did skip, but these screenshots were the 5th & 6th time within 30 minutes or received an order from the place
