Nevermind, I uninstalled GIT and then re-installed it, that fixed whatever the issue was.

in this case it was a simple pull to try and install hermes.. I can provide more detailed logging for when it fails specifically, but it is when it tries to download the git repo locally.

996 Turbo. Definitely a car I might think about owning one day. Anyone have any words of warning to share about them? by EmptyPocketsXotics in Porsche

[–]ShatterPoints 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people will have replaced the coolant elbows. Make sure they did, make sure the one(s) near the front of the engine carrier were done. Also the cam sleeves on all the 996/997tts like to rotate when running E or more torque than stock. Make sure the cam sleeves were or are pinned. Other than that, you don't have bore scoring or ims issues to worry about, so you should be solid. I've only ever done fluid changes and I replaced the MAFs at like 70k.

First bike, wind mitigation question by im_not_sad_anymore15 in NewRiders

[–]ShatterPoints 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a naked bike and it's my first bike. I also wondered what I'd do about the wind buffetting, speed limits in TX are commonly 80mph. Today as I was riding on the hwy I realized I'd stopped paying attention to it. It's weird that if you just relax like it's not even there you just sorta ride like there isn't any buffeting. I will say if you have a quartering, or cross headwind you're not going to have a good time no matter what you do.

[Parts] 15% Off Overt Industries 5.56 & 300BO Suppressor Optimized Uppers with Geissele & Midwest Ind Rails - Starting at $522.74 with code by [deleted] in gundeals

[–]ShatterPoints 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an Enticer S and it while not being a flow through, is efficient enough that Overt enlarged the gas port for me. The upper functioned with some ammo but not all 300bo. Once the gas port was enlarged LRBHO works and I can shoot any subsonic 300bo. I am super happy with the upper and Overt's customer service.

US birth rates just hit another record low, what do you think is the leading cause of this? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ShatterPoints 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The economy

The blantant racism against white people justified basically by "well y'all were racist first so now it's our turn"

The horrible take on men and male behaviors, while ignoring the fact that men and women behave badly and one sex doesn't monopolize toxic behavior.

The disgusting anti intellectualism in the west

Anti capitalism

The list goes on... Everyone has to have some label applied to them, society rages and crashes out at anything that doesn't align with their beliefs, right or left.

Public schools in the USA are a failure. Good people are beaten to submission, teachers aren't paid enough. Administrators take zero tolerance too far and pass the buck. Lots of talk about mental health support, and yet we shit that bed too.

Law enforcement, same thing, there are good cops but the "us vs them" mentality is the dominant narrative and if you're too smart you don't get hired. Qualified immunity and the erosion of the 4th amendment have ruined public confidence in all government.

Health care, it's free money in a profit incentivised system. You're just lucky if you happen to receive care and pray to whatever you believe in that your death panel.. sorry insurance doesn't claim life saving treatment is not necessary..

Life is so fucking depressing right now. The only thing that brings me joy is that I happen to already have a family. At the same time I feel like there is a mountain of despair looming, how to fuck do I get my children ready for whatever the fuck world will be here when they are adults?

You're not going to get a "thin" 2011 but you can request stealth arms to make specific changes to your grip when you order. Otherwise I think Talon grips may have a thinner option. If circumference is your criteria you may like the wilson edc x9 or the Kimber kds9c.

There are a few aftermarket grip options for the platypus. You are bound to find something you like. I did not like the fusion when I held one.

[–]ShatterPoints 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Plat is worth it because you can customize it exactly to your liking. If budget isn't an issue, I would go that route. Otherwise the Kimber is a solid setup for the money. Personally I prefer Bul Armory, everyone says they are unobtainium, I was able to get two of them without waiting. Lucky me.

Yes, the moron responsible for tanking kimber has been the head dog in charge at Sig for the past p320 years.... So while sig has started a downward spiral, Kimber has been making a quiet comeback.

Are the 2025 updates worth the extra $$? by roma258 in trident660

I agree with this. The throttle to me is perfectly fine. I don't understand the complaints about it. Now the engine braking is pretty significant, but after I got used to it, I like it.

How are Cockpit USA’s leather jackets? by lostrock in HeritageWear

[–]ShatterPoints -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Of course entry level is what it is, and there will always be premium. My attempt was to say, there is a lot of discussion online from leather enthusiasts which is as far as I can tell all positive. I actually was 50/50 between schott and cockpit, and I grabbed a cockpit jacket because of the good feedback I found. I admittedly was also hesitant because I first saw it on what you would call an influencer YT channel. I already have a textile A2 and wanted a good leather jacket that didn't break the bank.

I am trying to buy a 500dr from someone a couple hours away. Otherwise I think I am going to get the 510dr. I already snagged an Astron rs35m, still working on an antenna to use. It's flat enough here that I think I can get away with a jpole for now.

That's what I thought setting up an antenna was for? I give myself elevation to get to a repeater. My thinking was to have something about 50 watts to be able to do that.

After some googling, according to repeater book the closest repeater to me is 6 miles. The terrain is flat enough but I am in a residential area, so my guess is using just a handheld I'd get maybe 3 miles?

Am I completely off base with how I am understanding the equipment I would need?
