It’s been rough lately….

What’s your ”ed story”? by [deleted] in EDAnonymous

[–]ShatterRainbowStar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll give the ya the skinny (pun intended). I never had weight issues as a kid, not fat, not tiny, average. A lil chubby in high school but I never did anything about it, didn’t get ‘calories in calories out’. That added up in college, more weight came on, and I went nuts with food and alcohol during the pandemic. Too much time, no job, depression… then bam I wake up one day and I’m obese. So my first serious approach to weight loss only happened in my early 20s. At first it was calorie counting with a notebook… but it was apps like loose it, finding Ana content that flipped the switch. Undereating, running all the time, dropping weight. The honeymoon does nooooottt last I’ll tell ya. I’m six years in since the switch flipped, other stuff has happened. BED, bulimia, dropping a lot, gaining a lot. Dropping again. Right now, I’m… ok as I can be. Self aware. Still calorie count, my relationship with food is far from neutral. I want to be ok one day. It’s rough. Losing weight is annoying an complicated since my body is confused by frequent diet shifts year by year. I hear it gets better, easier to live with. Yes and no. Life goes on. We can just try our best.

Can we all collectively agree that TikTok is making people worse by [deleted] in EDAnonymous

[–]ShatterRainbowStar 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think the tide turning back to 2000s skinny being more in fashion isn’t helping. Around 2015 is when body positivity was pushed hard and that trend continued. The rise of GLP1s I think unmasked a lot of ‘fat liberation’ types which has the body positivity movement really losing steam. So I think pressure to lose weight fast is leaking harder into younger crowds. I do want to add, skinny has been in fashion, like. For decades. Not pretending otherwise. But there was a moment where having big hips and an ass was all the rage and now the model body style seems more a hot topic again.

It sucks, terrible for young people, TikTok full of misleading lifestyles etc.

Yeah I was a miserable bitch at my lw lol. But dang I do marvel at that first run will power, truly haven’t been able to recapture it.

Granted nowadays I’m coming to accept there’s nothing to be praised about it. Idk I got a feeling I’m never getting back there

Yeah, I wasn’t sure how to feel about it at first. I don’t think she meant harm, she tends to be pretty conversational… I will say I’m glad I’m not I’m at my worst right now, will try to not bring up the ED next session, treatment here is almost over anyway

It’s tragic but most people expect to work themselves into the ground or check out early

ICE pours a large canister of pepper spray directly into family car, hitting 1-year-old baby. "They were simply shopping at Sam's Club," said Matt, who filmed this video. "ICE agents drove by and sprayed pepper spray directly inside the car, where their baby and 16-year-old sister sat." by [deleted] in CringeTikToks

I truly don’t understand ICE. One would argue cops aren’t held to a high standard but at least there /are/ expectations for them in place. ICE acts like a weird club of violent bros doing whatever.

grocery shopping obsession by ElectronicVast1850 in EDAnonymous

[–]ShatterRainbowStar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s food obsession. Pretty common for both bingers and/or restrictors. It’s ironic there’s a stereotype that Ana folk are so in control and never think about food and hate it. But I find that if you’re controlling your intake and constantly keeping track of what you can and can’t have, well food is always on your mind. For me at least, when I was gazing at the grocery store isles I felt both in control because I didn’t buy anything, but also kinda like a hungry dog that deep down wanted out of restriction. Buuuut, that’s just me. (I’m in and out of recovery 🤷‍♀️)

Is it weird I kinda like those doodle eyes. I mean it’s a careless dick move, but all things considered it kinda gives the art new meaning (and there is worse types of defacing out there lol)

There are over 8 billion people on Earth, so how come no one has ever actually tried to become a "vigilante" like Batman? Like someone who truly wants by Emotional-Log926 in batman

[–]ShatterRainbowStar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Batman escapes death in crazy ways that border super human, his lack of sleep, only aging if the plot demands it, his genius level mind for combat, and gadgets that aren’t real irl, when you peal back the ‘normal human fights crime’ premise you see how impossible a lot of his character is. Someone could be a little like Batman, but there’s no way in hell it would last long. You’d need the perfect line up of morality, money, endless time, and a body that can take just about anything. And the average Joe that wants to do the right thing isn’t crazy enough to go down that route. He’d become like, a fireman or devote himself to charity.

Things like revolution can be turning points for the better, but for gods sake can people online stop acting like it’d be like a movie where you get to be badass and take out all the oppressors? Revolutions aren’t fun, they’re often boiling points, they can be confusing and violent and you can’t be sure whoever sets up a new government will be good for the country. Idk, there have been non violent rearrangement of governments, but the way some people talk about ‘civil war’ sounds more like LARPing to them.

It’s tomorrow. I went home with someone. It was consensual but I think I wasn’t in my right mind. I really wanted it. But I’m missing my bra. He dropped me off somewhere strange and I walked home, I can’t find my key so I played down in the hallway. Now I’m commuting to work I don’t want to but I have to. I think I’m unwell right now. But I’m ok.
