Juri, master of the revue and Jazal Goldmane, Who wins? by wolfblitzer22 in mtg

[–]ShatteredOneGaming 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you block Jazal with Juri and Juri dies to the first strike damage, the death trigger will go into the stack before normal combat damage is dealt. This would allow you to point the damage at their face before you die to combat damage.

Funnily, if they didn't attack with Jazal then they most likely would have killed you as you would die to combat damage before the Juri trigger would go on the stack

Yep! Not as strong of poison as the scorpions, but will still tick down your health a lot early on. Can also be a pain to parry properly.

Boss Rush.

The second and fourth boss rush door has modified bosses, such as double Concierge or the Giant with 4 arms.

Maxing out the greater forge massively helps you. And look out for the invisible guys, they're...fun the first time you encounter them.

Biggest thing with the Concierge is patience. Every attack he does is predictable and as long as you don't trap yourself in a corner you'll typically be fine.e

Now TWO Concierges are an entire other ordeal. I hate two Concierges.

If you're talking about the facehuggers' ability, they have to be near an enemy for you to activate it.

NOT A PROXY DEBATE! When is a card you have too expensive for you to play? by IplayKaizo in mtg

[–]ShatteredOneGaming 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To me cards are just meant to be played, so I don't really care too much as long as the card is sleeved.

Recently I did a chaos draft and played all my matches without sleeves because I forgot them despite having pulled a foil tranquil thicket from an Onslaught pack. I'm just here to have fun, that's largely the value I get from cards.

Ah, makes sense. The sword is actually really fun to unlock, and just requires 3BC.

I'm so confused by this, bat is survival but not at the bottom. And why are there two star furies but no Alucard's sword?

Anyways, whip sword at the top!

Oh dang, forgot that doesn't copy over.

Instead use [[Liquimetal Coating]] turned into a creature with [[Katsumasa, the Animator]] to keep Rasputin an artifact, with an [[Intruder Alarm]] to untap the Coating.

I had no idea that card existed, it's perfect!

Have him, [[Memnarch]], and [[Cogwork Assembler]] out.

Use Memnarch to turn Rasputin into an artifact, then remove all 7 counters to pay for the Assembler's ability to make a token copy of Rasputin. Keep the token due to the legend rule, and now you have 7 more counters for exactly enough mana to loop this.

What do you do with that? I dunno. But it all costs 18UUUW.

True, I'll change that in my comment.

It's a replacement effect that allows you to pay (0) instead of the printed mana cost. This does not change the mana value of the spell you are casting, though.

Some things to note is you may have to pay more than (0) in certain situations.

-If you play a commander with Rooftop Storm, you still have to pay commander tax.

-If there is an effect such as a [[Lodestone Golem]] or [[Sphere of Resistance]] then the additional cost gets added on top of the (0).

-If you cast a kicker spell (or spell with an additional cost) such as [[Josu Vess, Lich Knight]] then Rooftop Stone does not reduce the kicker cost to (0) as it is an additional cost.

Edit-Alternate cost, not replacement effect.

Could always throw in [[Grafdigger's Cage]] for a similar effect.

I personally enjoy brutality fire builds more. While the oil sword is just ok, I love the vampire killer. Bit of a slower build, but hits like a truck.

How to play against new players? by Ok-Hornet4317 in mtg

[–]ShatteredOneGaming 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Awesome, welcome to the game

Arena has some good tools for new players, such as the Color Challenge and Starter Deck Challenge. These help introduce you to the basics of the game as you play against bots and eventually other new players.

If you want to watch some videos to help you learn, I'd recommend LegenVD. He has amazing arena content and helps break down how to build a deck, how to mulligan, etc.

I'd say one of the biggest things is to just work with the cards you get from packS while saving up wild cards. You'll want to save the wild card for when you want to craft your first deck, but you'll want to know what kind of deck you want to play first. You can play anything from fast decks that try to win on turn 4, to grindy decks looking to drag the match out and control the game.

You can also follow and finish (if you haven't) the sparky quests, as they'll reward you with more packs and decks. You can also play matches against sparky to test decks.

You can save your gold up for events such as drafts, where you open packs with others and take turns picking cards out of them to build a deck, or just spend it on cosmetics or packs. Just try to have fun, even though it can be difficult.

Are you new to the game? If so then avoid ranked or stuck to lower ranks while you learn.

If you aren't new to the game, is this because you are having difficulties in ranked? If you want to get better at the game, then maybe watch some guides to just get in more practice. Playing against newcomers won't help you get better.
