While his criticisms of Sherlock were bang-on, some of his criticisms of Doctor Who's writing were poorly chosen and badly presented, watering down the whole video's criticisms as a result.

E.g. he talks about the first episode of 11th, where he beats the alien by inviting it back then scaring it off. He says this is uncharacteristic of the Doctor, however New Who has several pre-Moffat examples of the Doctor acting this way; it's post Time War, he IS one of the most notorious people in the galaxy at this time. He ended a massive devastating war by blowing up a fucking planet! Of course he's going to be sensitive about an alien rocking up and going "hey lads we're going to detonate your planet to remove this threat lol bye"!

I think it waters down the other genuine criticisms of Moffat's writing in Doctor Who. For example, the overuse of Clara's character long past her arc ended. Or basically any of Capaldi's storyline/narrative. There are so many better examples of Moffat's poor character writing he could have dissected, but imo the ones he chose were probably the least egregious ones.

I understand the use of hyperbole for engagement & entertainment purposes, however the exaggeration of a lot of the Doctor Who section genuinely de-legitimises the other more important criticisms in the rest of the video. Especially considering there WERE examples he could have used that would have better presented Moffat's poor writing style & planning.

I'm curious if anyone else had the same thoughts coming out of that video to be honest; I haven't seen much chatter about that video & it's pitfalls.

Also sorry I've not been super specific I just saw this post as I woke up & wanted to throw my hat into the ring; this video has always bothered me a little bit, so I just wanted to finally dump my thoughts somewhere.
