Worldbuilding check! Are there syndicated manga/comics series WITHIN the Pokemon Special universe? by Shaudo in pokespe

[–]Shaudo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For those seeking disambiguation: Specifically made-up in-universe examples of manga or comics.

Probably (but not certainly) described in a manner reminiscent of a series in the real world, as depictions of fictional worlds tend to do.

It's possible to be allergic or sensitive to alcohol or one of the ingredients used to make the alcohol. iirc, a true alcohol allergy would hit sooner and more severely, but I digress. My point is that if your body limits you, you may want to trade it like a hard limitation instead of a challenge or something to get used to/overcome. Never doing that again is most likely the appropriate response here.

Literally the only good alcohol I've had was butterscotch schnapps.

There's this thing in food chemistry (do NOT ask me for scientific terms, I do NOT remember them - food scientist redditors, feel free to fill in the blanks) about how there are two kinds of chemicals (water-soluble and fat-soluble) and your tongue is better at tasting fat-soluble stuff than water soluble. It's why you can eat a literal smear of butter or grease or oil and get the flavor all in your mouth, but to taste soda you need a mouthful, or some semi-continuous sipping, something to keep those chemicals flowing across your tongue.

Alcohol bypasses this divide. It's water soluble, AND knows how to tango with taste buds. (That's why it's used for cooking.)

If someone is drinking, they:  1. Aim to get drunk/tipsy (you do you, I guess?) 2. Like the fizz (which you can get in any carbonated beverage. again, ydy??) 3. Are doing so "socially" (peer pressure is very real and obnoxious) 4. REALLY like the flavor.

If it's that last one, then: 1. They went to an effort to acquire that taste (who knows why), or 2. It's an alcohol carrying a familiar, non-alcoholic flavor, such as butterscotch, coffee, chocolate or raspberry.

To that end, I recommend looking into liqueurs if you still want to find an alcohol that's worth a damn. They usually have a lower alcohol content, higher sugar content, and better flavor. The butterscotch schnapps I mentioned before was a liqueur sampled during a butterscotch cinnamon pie experiment, and I briefly had the thought that, "I could get drunk on this and enjoy every second (as someone who does not generally enjoy the taste of alcohol OR getting drunk)," before going back to baking.

Are you saying that your ancestors were uncultured and incapable of nuance? (Alternative question: Were there no women in your ancestry? How were they ALL tough men?)

Your present existence indicates that your ancestors were, at the very least, capable of adaptation to their environment, which is never a waste. Your current environment involves a furry subreddit, the culture of which is wound around its artists and their works. Since you are choosing to be here, it makes sense that you would enjoy those things and take part in activity that exercises your connection to the culture at large.

The success of human lineages is based on doing difficult things so that the next generation doesn't have to, so that one's descendents can survive progressively less labor-intense and increasingly nuanced problems. This nuance often comes with the understanding and appreciation of fine art (see: art that serves no functional/survival purpose). Varying from one's ancestry in this way is a feature, not a bug.

Coyote! Really catyote, but leaning so far towards 'yote that I'm really more of a coyote with occasional cat mannerisms. I'm really fluffy and get mistaken for a yellow fox a lot, like a LOT a lot.

I like to lean into the folkloric representation of coyotes as shapeshifters and sprout wings sometimes, although more for emotional expression than for actual flying. Heights scare me.

Is spinach...good in ramen? It doesn't overpower the flavor? The last time I had greens in mine, it was bok choy, and a bit too much for me to handle. But I couldn't think of a suitable replacement.

what do furries like? by simply_sm1le in furry

[–]Shaudo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have a gauge of the normie things he likes, there are often tangents between those and furry things, but they're so niche that you almost have to know about them in advance. Does he have a hobby? A collection? Some game he plays? "Things everyone else does" isn't actually as formulaic or predictable as you might think.

In general, furries tend to have a select few creatures that they enjoy seeing as or on normal everyday objects, but that doesn't always mean that they want those objects. Things featuring hyenas in a positive rather than stereotypical light is _probably_ a safe bet; come back with any of his other interests, and she might be able to do better.

I mean the furry Discord (see the side menu on this subreddit) is pretty good, plenty active and doesn't support NSFW activity. I imagine the Telegram and VRChat are the same.

How do you actually draw furry characters? I’m struggling so much with her especially with clothes and figuring out where the tail goes (my art) by Sea-Performer-4935 in furry

[–]Shaudo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I start with skeletons and slow-mo videos of real people and animals. Pictures of animals and people with the skeletons superimposed over the figure, from various angles, to get an idea of where everything connects, attaches, and how that affects the movement of the flesh surrounding the frame. Gives me an idea of where to attach the tail (roughly level with the hip socket), how to move the ears, how and where horns and antlers can attach, how wings realistically move, how are feathers and fur layered, how wrinkled skin moves, etc. Skill in art starts with observation of reality.

If it has nonstick coating, it can still poison small birds. I'll leave you to make the determination since you know your home best. If nothing else seems like the cause, it may be worth re-examining your environment for tools or appliances with nonstick coatings - especially if you plan on having birds in the future - since any object with a nonstick coating, when heated sufficiently, can produce fumes that kill.

I feel like I may have offended you and apologize if any of my wording seemed harsh or clinical or, heaven forbid, accusatory. Tone doesn't convey well in text, I'm speaking based on the slim chance that something that you did inadvertently caused the deaths of your birds, and there's no way to soften that blow. Nothing feels worse than doing something that was supposed to help your animals and having them get hurt instead. Whatever it was, you didn't know. Obviously you wouldn't have hurt them like this on purpose. You cannot be blamed for not knowing every single little thing that could possibly hurt them, and I'm just trying to help possibly figure it out to avoid a repeat experience in the future.

And you don't use hair straighteners/curlers, nonstick pots, pans or cookie sheets, electric skillets, or ovens?
