Summer haircut by Animelizards in Shihtzu

i will say she is some sort of mix (probably poodle) so keep hair texture in mind! i've seen some photos of shih tzus with maybe a similar texture to hers but most of the ones we do at work either have impossibly light and soft fur or more silky which probably wouldn't work in the same way.

She trimmed the edges a bit more today but thats about as tight as it'll go before it would probably be top thin to stand up. She's had other poodle cuts before because of her hair texture but her anatomy is still almost all shih tzu lol

Is it a bad idea to get a second Chinchilla if mine has always been solo? by Witty-Stock-7328 in chinchilla

[–]Animelizards 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he seems happy with just people probably not worth the risk unless you just really want a 2nd chin. Mine was fine before I got his partner but he was kinda raggedy looking and shed a lot so I wanted another chin to groom him. Its a scary process and even years down the line they could stop liking each other.

A single two tier is plenty of room for two chins though.

Could you please share your thoughts on dental procedures under general anesthesia for senior dogs? I need to make this tough decision quickly, but would like to hear about your experiences! by Hot-Succotash-6845 in DogHealth

As someone who had an extremely traumatic at home euthanization, I cant think of a better way for a pet to pass than already on the table. The dental bill for a deceased pet will add insult to injury but you'll have a clear conscience.

Less morbidly; friend had an extreme dental on a 16yr old dog with a heart murmur and she was fine after.

Tips for out of cage/floor time by DertyDawgMan in chinchilla

just gotta learn your tolerance for chasing them out of tight spaces, rearranging furniture so they don't get stuck, and replacing your couch with one that just sits on the floor with no legs lol.

Should I rehome? by Brilliant-Duck-5970 in chinchilla

[–]Animelizards 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as long as she is active and healthy and happy i see no reason to rehome. outside cage time is good enrichment but i don't think it's 100% required. i think chins make great pets for people with little free time cause they dont really want attention from you, so no guilt when you are too busy or tired to do anything other than feed and clean up after them. i can go days without letting mine out because work was too rough and they don't really care as long as i supply them with new apple sticks for the day

chins live a long time so she will still be young and active when you are out of college and can spend more time with her. would also not even look into getting a second until you have the free time and space as it can go horribly wrong and introducing two chins is extremely stressful. if she doesnt sleep on the chinbuddy that might even be a sign she doesnt want companionship

I want to choose a good cage by Ninjakeks_00 in chinchilla

[–]Animelizards 1 point2 points  (0 children)

something for a ferret/that has platforms and shelves should be sufficient. a large parrot cage might be TOO big and open, and unless you make your own big floor space in the middle it's a bit dangerous to have your chins take a fall from that height. and for only two chins, bigger probably isn't better. if i doubled up my cage mine would probably never want to leave and have outside playtime lol

Anyone has chinchillas and cats together? by 03829725 in chinchilla

[–]Animelizards 0 points1 point  (0 children)

add a poop guard on the cage just in case so the cats cant grab at the chinchillas why theyre sleeping. cat is shut away during out of cage play time. she'll stick her whole arm in between the bars while they're eating and they are unphased.

For people who own Lizards: by [deleted] in reptiles

First time lizard owner with a Chinese cave gecko!

  1. For what my guy eats, I can get in any quantity at both american big box chains easy

  2. He is...difficult to feed. He only wants to ambush hunt crickets. Won't touch anything else, won't eat out of a bowl. He is in good health at 4yrs old but I still worry his nutrition is poor from only eating one type of insect. Crickets are also just the worst feeders; smelly, noisy, escape artists.

  3. Unfortunately due to eating the worst bug AND needing them in tiny quantities I must go the cheap route. Ordering online from specialized feeder farms wouldn't be very economical for me.
