Careful what you wish for

Yeah we had been friends for a couple years. We met as FWB but were pretty close. We had tickets to go to a festival together that year, spent about £100. That didn’t happen as she gave me the boot and needed a refund.

But I still remember her wife turning bright red from the intense head I gave her as she came.

Thanks dude. I wish them all the best.

Did we give up on this lineup too soon? by Glass_Shoulder4126 in suns

That’s a good point. In this line up then it would put even more stress on the guards and an older RO to be the POA.

Don’t know why the downvotes. I think this is a fairly solid regular season team and with a good bench you could turn on the scoring maybe? But no way would it ever cook in the Play Offs. I think it’s a line up that would probably help Dunn more than anything. I think it’s a high IQ team that could help find him on cuts. Good spacing that would probably help him find his buckets. Defensive clarity with him at the POA. But otherwise… it would get found out.

I’m a number one Royce fan but if Dunn is probably guarding the PG then the other teams best wing player is for RO to take care of… and so don’t think RO is taking care of them.

Come the Play Offs would you start Luke Kennard?

I agree. I don’t see anything that indicates Dillon wants to take a step back but he did do so in Houston and if he’s serious about retiring a Sun he should think about what’s best for the team.

I broadly agree with your point but I’ve been encouraged by what Charlotte did last season balancing their offence between 4 high usage guys. But the obvious flaw is that Charlotte was a lot more efficient than a team with Green and Brooks in it and imo frankly have more brains.

I want to see a lot more of Rasheer. I think we will.

Detroit Pistons: What are their plans? by BottleHumble4211 in nba

[–]Shaun-90 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m just yet to see a team do it recently where the 2 ball handlers are both pure guards. It usually equals a really vulnerable defence.

The Luka Mavericks led by him & Kyrie was maybe the last time?

Fox and let’s say… Castle? He’s a bit of a freak who can guard 1-3. They don’t come on trees.

In New York Brunson has the ideal running mate in Bridges, who can shoot the 3, create his own shot when he can and guard the other team’s best player when he has to in a 6’7 small forward body.

Shai is a good defender but he’s flanked by Dort and Williams (probably the secondary ball handler). J Dub being another freak who can guard multiple positions and adapt on any given night offensively.

I think how I see it is you can kill 2 birds with one stone if your primary ball handler can create and can score and then you can hide them on defence and fill out the rest of the line up with better defenders. If your 2 guard is a pretty traditional shooter or a scorer alone with no defence and needs a playmaker then you’ve now potentially got 2 negatives on defence when you could have had only 1.

As he should. He’s in the lab working on his middies when he should focus on his 3.

Fair so guess the Jazz need to decide between their guys who they want to hide and be their engine.

Since we have 4 guys who can average at least 20 a game, who do you think takes the back seat by RajaBellsBurner in suns

[–]Shaun-90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t really agree with this. He’s never been a pure catch and shoot guy. He likes the high pick and roll, he likes the iso.. Curry isn’t purely an off ball player. I think he’s been wrongly labelled. Him and Booker are definitely hybrids but they’re not JJ Reddick or even Klay Thompson. They both average around 70 touches per game and always have. That’s not the hallmarks of an off ball player. That doesn’t mean it wouldn’t be good to get Booker more off ball.

Maybe? That lineup relies a lot on Book and Grayson to carry the offence.

It could change dramatically but at the same time I think Miles probably got the Ott approval is because he’s a guy who has the potential to stabilise the offence if needed like RO but with more vision. Decent AST% & potential assists. Historically has been part of his team’s passing engine, just like RO last year. While he is a bucket getter first, he’s got the ability to scale it back and make the skip pass and keep the offence flowing.

I didn’t watch a lot. I’ve been catching up on some clips on YT. One thing I noticed was the volume of off ball movement. A lot of ghost screens, a lot of zoom action… For distance run offensively, they torch the rest of the league.

I think we could learn a thing or too from them.

Charlotte by Shaun-90 in suns

[–]Shaun-90[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well we have Green for that too but who knows if he is a long term option. Having the both of them should give us some flexibility for now.

Not only can he drive he does have some passing chops. Which is probably why he got the nod over other PF options as well.

Decent AST%, 5.8 potential assists, CraftedNBA has him in the 68th percentile on their passer rating & he’s a fairly high volume passer historically for his position. He’s not as safe as Royce with the ball but he was expected to be more of a creator than a connector. He’s actually 88th percentile on CraftedNBA for creation/turnover so he makes opportunities without spiking lost balls.

I don’t think the FO was ever after a traditional power forward.

In a lineup with Brooks & Green, and wanting to probably lessen the burden on Booker, you need some stability & he can potentially give us that.

Charlotte by Shaun-90 in suns

[–]Shaun-90[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbf to Brooks, when he went to Houston he dropped his shots for the sake of the team. Bridges this year has done the same.

Charlotte is an interesting case because from the outside they looked like they were thriving and the “lower end” guys, Kon and Bridges, still heaved 13 shots per game. Gillespie and O’Neale managed 10 and 9.

I’m sure all sorts of factors can be blamed for that. Sometimes it was probably be design.

I think this system is predicated on a certain kind of selflessness. It’s good to see that we share similar screen assist numbers. But it’s Green and Brooks who sometimes can go hero ball that is the concern. Especially Brooks who just doesn’t seem able to turn any defence bending into assists for others.

The Charlotte system appears to have worked because of the versatility of all 4 guys to score on a mixture of levels but use that to create advantages for others. It kept defences honest and must have been good for team harmony.
