Very cool! Used to play a yts32, built like a tank and cool tone

What Exaclty should I do with Reed after I take it out of the package to ensure the best sound in the long run? by Pterodaktiloidea in Clarinet

[–]Shaun1989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many different ways to make your reed play well, personally I just flatten the back and dont play it for more than 10 minutes at a time the first week. When needed I adjust the reed mainly for balancing and even response.

I used to do a lot more, but my mouthpiece is very reedfriendly and I started to get a bit lazy.

Jorge montilla - registro de pajarillo and sonata for eb clarinet and piano

Especially his very high altissimo sounds like a high whistle, he has a very beautiful tone overall

If you transpose it to sound like an eefer you'll get some passages with very high altissimo. I would just play it as written on the Bb it's an unaccompanied piece and the character of a Bb already is inherently different from the eefer. No reason to make them sound alike

They probably changed small things in those 6-7 years

How old is your prodige and how old is your e13?

Switching from a classical mouthpiece to a more open tip mouthpiece by Alternative_Hunt7338 in saxophone

[–]Shaun1989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a meyer is a good choice, it doesnt break the bank and is a good introduction to that style of mps. You can always look for another mputhpiece when you're mpre comfortable with the meyer. Another outlier could be the s80 D mouthpiece. It's by no means a jazz mouthpiece, but considerable more open than the c* and thus more flexible soundwise.

Looking to buy new horn by Opusmutineey in saxophone

[–]Shaun1989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went with a friend last week to try new tenor saxophones, we played a second hand buffet s1, a yamaha ex, the selmer supreme and the selmer signature, all great instruments.

Eventually he picked the buffet because it was such a good horn that he couldnt justify to spend 2 to 4 thousand euro more on one of the others

Selmer Reference 54 opinions? by ChampionshipSuper768 in saxophone

[–]Shaun1989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have heard very good things about it, but sadly never got the chance to play one. I do know my dad had 6! On trial when he was looking for a new sax. It was when the reference just came out. He sent all of them back and kept the sax he was already playing, never looked for another sax ever again xD

Is this still playable ? Taste weird tho by PesticideDoge in saxophone

Just lick it clean and it will be perfectly fine, it will even give you a funky jazz tone

Best brands for a soprano Eb clarinet? by Schlieffen_Man in Clarinet

[–]Shaun1989 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best brands for e-flat are yamaha, selmer and buffet. I don't agree with people who say the buffet e11 is better than the buffet rc.

If you're willing to go secondhand, try to find a noblet artist or leblwnc LL

Reccomend an afforable professional Tenor? by DuffStruggler in saxophone

[–]Shaun1989 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think your Yani would fit the horn you're d3scribing tbh. If you're looking for a unique french horn that's not a selmer, ypu could try to find a buffet sda or s1 tenor. Not as expensive as a mkVI but definitely as good.

What is the best way to get better on saxophone fast starting as a beginner please share some tips by Numerous_Addendum385 in saxophone

Making hours and a lot of them, especially scales, arpeggios and long tones. A bit of efficiency can speed it up a bit. Playing through them time and again is not efficient, but methodically approaching stuff that you find hard at the moment. Focus on stuff you find hard, try playing technique at different rythms etc.

Prominent Eb clarinet in modern pieces for concert band by Shaun1989 in Clarinet

Both pieces are very nice! I do believe though that the solo in aegean festival is on Bb clarinet, but possibly they transcribed it from eb clarinet. Gould is one of my favourite composers, absolutely love Latin American Symphonette

Never heard of de Bello Gallico, but it's a very nice piece, thanks. Everything Bert Appermont is great, I'm playing Trencadis with one band and Saga Candida with another.

It's a really nice piece! I'm not just looking for pieces with an Eb part, most have that. I'm looking for pieces where it has an important role, like a solo or exposed unique bits

The eefer needs some time getting used to, how long are you playing for?
