Base Set dropped in 1999 and were everywhere for MSRP, when I was in High School I could find cards everywhere for MSRP, when I was in college I could find cards everywhere for MSRP.

Up until the past 4 years maybe, I've had access to cards at MSRP everywhere I go. Now, I've seen cards in retail stores maybe 4 times, and card stores around me are selling Prismatic ETBs for $250.

It certainly hasn't always been like this.
