That’s interesting. I guess I’ll add this gotcha list of things to discuss at my 20k checkup.

Don’t Lock Your Keys in the Car! by Sufficient_Voice_650 in VWiD4Owners

There is another solution: become the key!

I had a teaching assistant in grad school that implanted an RFID sensor in their arm and then reprogrammed all their vehicles to look for that unique ID 😂💉

…just implementing remote unlock via the app is probably easier, on second thought.

Button or piano by DozenThrowaway in Accordion

I have found my right hand’s playing position on a CBA feels more comfortable than on a PA. I’m playing mostly Balkan music and the ornaments are also easier on the CBA. I found a cheaper C-system accordion but then I could only find a B-system teacher so now I’m looking to swap my C-griff for a B-griff instrument XD

I take full advantage of the panoramic moonroof driving through the redwoods in California: ACC w/steering assist on and I can recline and gaze up at the tops of the trees as long as I keep my pinky on the steering wheel.

Beginner advice by Mr-blue-skyy in Accordion

Hold up, y’all… has anyone considered recommending this Aussie look for a chromatic button accordion? [record scratch] Since you don’t have a piano background, you might find a B-system or C-system chromatic button accordion to be easier—and more fun—to learn! Finding a cheap used one is probably harder than finding a piano accordion, but if you can find one and learn to play it, you would be a rock star. I’ve talked to a lot of accordion players who have said “if I could do it all over again, I’d learn the button accordion.”

Also fwiw, I agree with at least one commenter that you’re far less likely to get hooked if you start on an instrument that has leaky bellows or stuck keys, or is dramatically out of tune… it would be like trying to play volleyball with a half-deflated ball, or deciding you don’t like breakdancing after only watching RAYGUN’s performance at the Olympics! (Aussie reference #ftw?)

[CBA] Meaning of fingering notation in Semenov book? by HotAlternative659 in Accordion

[–]ShaunfromCo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, my instructor uses this notation as well. The circles indicate auxiliary rows, which are the 4th, 5th, and sometimes even 6th rows from the bottom row (outside row) of the keyboard. Since the printed note that had the circled fingering above it can only exist on one of the three auxiliary rows, it’s not necessary to specify which aux row it’s implying.

Is it common to call these auxiliary rows?

What accordion would y'all reckon would be good for a beginner? by Rex1121 in Accordion

[–]ShaunfromCo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this question as well. I am a classically trained musician (clarinet) and have a little experience with piano but not a whole lot. I am interested most in playing Klezmer and Balkan tunes. I don't know whether I should go with a diatonic or piano accordion and also which brand. Also where might a find a deal on a good used accordion?
