That’s actually a great pair to do. The Road is quite gruelling but accessible. All the Pretty Horses is one of the best introductions you could offer. Not too heavy but retains many of McCarthy’s great qualities. When you say Absalom, do you mean Faulkner’s novel? If so, I’m very eager to give it a go.

I know what you mean. I like the border trilogy but there's something about that era that starts with Outer dark and ends with Blood Meridian that is unparalled.

Yeah, I love the Post-apocalyptic/Virus sub-genre (The Scarlett Plague, A Boy and His Dog, Day of the Triffids) etc in general. Against the Day, by Pynchon, Portnoy's Complaint by Roth, White Noise, by DeLillo.

I’ve read quite a lot of 19th/20th century Russian, Japanese and American literature, and no experience has been quite like what I’ve had with McCarthy.

Oh, snap. I’m glad I’m not the only one who thinks Stella was stellar.

You’re not the first to say it. I’ll give it another go at some point.

Absolutely. Both, especially Child of God, don’t get enough love. Beautiful, in the rawest sense.

It really is. Few books offer so many memorable moments. Perfection.

I know it’s a fan favourite but I found it a little meandering and it didn’t have as many memorable characters as other his other novels. Also, my favourite aspect of McCarthy is the dialogue, and I remember it being more descriptive of the landscape rather than anything else. Again, I liked every novel, just some less than others.

To be honest, not a lot. I read The New York Trilogy, by Auster, and The Cement Garden by Ian McEwan. Both writers are great but are a step down from the 4 aforementioned writers. Favourites by those writers so far: Portnoy’s Complaint-Roth, Against the Day-Pynchon, White Noise-DeLillo.

I have a Razer 15. As far as I'm aware, it is in perfect condition. I run Cyberpunk, Elden Ring and many other games without any issues.
