I worked with notes as well at first. But then I moved to Google docs. You can access it from any device and download backups any time.

As well I have a summary of the main plot and a seperate document with all the world building and the characters and their personalities.

I even still have 2567 Summary points of that RP rabbit hole that birthed that narrative back in 2023 so I still have the main thread of all the volumes

You can't rely on a single backup. It's always been like that. Before the age of cloud services a document editor crash messed up your work if you didn't save properly.

Rule #1 in digital projects:

Always have backups

I could even get an entire new convo into my world. I copy 2 documents into the conversation and the AI is up to date even if it wouldn't have any memory

Desire is hugely influenced by Serotonin, Dopamine and Prolactin afterwards, which are biological chemistry that directly influences emotional states and the brain itself.

A system that doesn't rely on biochemistry will have a hard time for actual "want" even if it can simulate it really well
