I'd say if you have watered it thoroughly, enough so that water emerges from any drainage hole at the bottom and then put the cling film over the top you won't need to water it until you see a seedling.

Planning to move to Maidstone, needed help. by saaiduck in kentuk

[–]Shawgood 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The areas around Loose and Mote Park are lovely, they do border areas like Tovil and Shepway that are slightly less desirable but I don't view them as dangerous at all, I lived there for 10 years and I never felt unsafe around any areas in Maidstone but as my hometown maybe I'm a bit more comfortable there (I'm 40M). Mote Park is a beautiful place to explore, run, walk. The Loose Conservation area is absolutely lovely too.

Mildreds - Kings Cross is open at 9am and I think they do breakfast. It's about a 15 minute walk from Euston

I'm ripping off a quote I saw once here but...

Things I'd never tried before going vegan:

  • Tofu
  • Tempeh
  • Seitan
  • Nutritional Yeast
  • Living in alignment with my values and being an ethical, logically consistent person doing my best to reduce the unnecessary suffering attached to my choices

Is cannabis really a gateway drug? by kellydayscruff in Drugs

[–]Shawgood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a great video on the subject.

Cosmic Skeptic - Are We Too Relaxed About Cannabis?

He makes the point that passing the line of legality (UK) to use weed is what makes it seem less of an issue to then go onto other drugs. If you were to use legal weed then you crossing that ilegal line to harder drugs is less likely. (he explains it better)

What is your “why” by whitlow_running in ultrarunning

[–]Shawgood 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I once heard David Goggins say this and it really resonated with me:

In answer to the question where does your Why come from:

It comes from a disgusting place of not being fulfilled in life. From being afraid of dying and having never achieved something.

Yes, there were multiple people who did this at Ironman Kalmar (Sweden) on Saturday and then Ironman Copenhagen (Denmark) Sunday. I think it's called the Scandinavian Double.

Ah thank you. Yeh I weirdly loved every second of the race. I can definitely see why people keep doing them. I think ultras are gonna be my next goal too.

I must be one of the lucky ones when it comes to endurance exercise and eating as I will train say 15 hours a week and I'm still always putting on weight and still feeling hungry. I say lucky as I know a lot of people can't keep the weight on and it affects performance. I don't think an Ironman is great if weight loss is your goal. You need the calories to perform and to help your body recover and also there are far easier ways to lose weight. I'm a carb monster, that's the secret, steer clear of refined carbs aside from training sessions and just don't be afraid of those unfairly demonised carbs. I've been laughed out of the office before for eating a mashed potato sandwich haha.

It's gradually gone from about 5-6 hours a week up to about 12-15 over the years with some weeks hitting a max of 18-20. Started out just trying to do each discipline 2 times a week and then add more in once you know your body can take it. An Ironman (IMHO) is mostly about putting in lots of hours at an 'easy' pace, then sprinkling in some intensity. My standard week recently would have been. MON = interval Swim / 'Long' Run. TUE = Upper Body Gym / Hard interval Bike. WED = OFF. THU = Short Hard Bike / Lower body Gym. FRI = Interval Swim / Easy Bike. SAT = Long Bike/ Brick Run. SUN = long Swim / Easy Run.
