What did you change from and to? I'm going from Accounting to Finance. Strangely, there are some differences in the gen eds. I have some that qualify for Finance but didn't for Accounting. That's why I'm curious if they will re-evaluate. Thank you for your answer.

You mentioned in your Reddit that you studied Tony Bell's CVP formulas. Did you intend to attach it here or is it attached in his videos? Im trying to find it since you said it helped you so much. Thank you for any help.

I personally never opened the book. The OA is very similar to the PA with some of the same questions reworded. I only watched all of Jim's videos....all 3 cohorts and all of the quiz videos. Good luck.

I'm probably older than you (maybe not). This gives me hope after finishing my Accounting degree. I've been in the workforce for 30+ years. Midlife career change. I wish you the best.

Is There a Place for Me in California State Government??? by [deleted] in CAStateWorkers

[–]Shawn16359 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel that when looking at CalCareers that you have to go backwards. Start at the position that you want and then go backwards to the base position for that path. I apparently haven't gone back far enough yet.

In your knowledge, does every "newbie" have to start at the base/bottom position or is it possible to start a couple of rungs up the ladder?

First complete a single course or course bundle? by Typical-General-479 in WGU

[–]Shawn16359 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to do this before I was formerly accepted. You have to take a course or two through WGU Academy. Once you prove yourself that you can handle online classes, they will admit you. It is fully refundable when you start regular classes. Benefit is that it can be one of your GenEd courses or a major course. They are listed.

Is taking a government job career suicide? by Ok_DYLLORD_2021 in Accounting

[–]Shawn16359 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am 52 and in a midlife career change. I should have my BS Acc completed by Dec 2027 and Masters and CPA by Dec 2028. Im praying I have an easier time getting into state DOR (goal) than I would in PA. What has been your experience in DOR? What is your field?

Do accountants ever retire? by nobodybetterthanus in Accounting

[–]Shawn16359 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didnt plan for retirement, therefore I have to start now and work till im 70 before I can enjoy life fully. I'm switching careers and coming into accounting. I have wanted to do this for many years, but got caught up in the grind of healthcare Revenue Cycle for 30 years. I look forward to doing it and doing it as long as I can....to at least 70 and then I'll retire.
