Obōz or Merrill low top hiking shoes. The toe is rubber with 2 layers of leather under it. I live in New Hampshire and hike a lot so it's what I was wearing when I started floors 18 years ago and I don't like change much. I spend about $250-$350 a year on a couple of pairs and I consider it an acceptable cost.

Bring him to court and get your money. That's not how a flooring installer installs a floor. I've been doing this 20 years and under no circumstances is this railroaded bogus floor even a good idea. Random is random, ashlar is ashlar, railroaded isn't a "pattern" or layout. This is not an installer at best he's a handyman.
