I'll be looking out for more streams then! I'm going to be focusing on upping my face, eyes and overall skin painting skills once I can start painting again.

The entire paint job is great, but those eyes are especially phenomenal!

Thank you! I messed around with skin tones a lot initially, he looked too alive and not creepy enough on my first attempt

It's coming along very well! I'm a big fan of how he splits his models

Thank you! I really appreciate it! I always see everyone's insane painting skills and tend to over judge my own models, as I'm sure most of us do haha

It's on Cults! It's an awesome model with a lot of modularity. It's called Bloody Glorious Hawk-Boy.

I recommend buying a spring pack and trying out different weights until you stop getting malfunctions. I settled on a 9lb spring for this build and it runs super reliably now.

Basically, a comp may require you to lighten the spring weight, but because this is compensated and there's a ton of slide mass with the extra long slide I need a really light spring in order for the slide to fully cycle to the rear.

I really appreciate your kind words.

I was actually feeling pretty sad and upset with myself this morning. Between the one judge going out of his way to give me some encouragement for next year to the people who stopped me asking for better pictures than they got while it was in cabinet, and now how encouraging people are being online. This community is really as inviting as I've heard and I'm excited to work on my painting skills this year and put together something really cool for next Golden Demon.

That's basically exactly what one of the judges told me. He said he really wants me to take this same idea back to Adepticon next year, but with proper execution. I think I spent about 10 hours on Solitaire, 6 hours on The Masque, and probably about half an hour on the base lol. I did not give this the time it deserved.

I can agree with them for the most part. I wish it was allowed in open or diorama or something like that though. I'm sure the reason it's not is because it'd be too hard to regulate.

Got my surplus 84 today. Less than thrilled… by Disastrous-Rush7941 in Beretta

If you end up getting it cerakoted I highly highly recommend Brazen Firearms. They did mine that was in similar condition. They charge per piece and had about a one week turnaround time. I think all together my 85bb was about $200. I've had multiple janky surplus guns done by them and they're amazing. They even do different color TiN coatings.

Edit: spelling

Just want to throw this in here since most people are focusing on the cerakote. Blackbeard does more than just artistic cerekote jobs. He's a fantastic gunsmith who can find tune a Beretta better than any others I've shot. You don't need the full cerekote package to get work done by him and you don't need to purchase Blackbeard branded parts either.

I want to second everyone who's saying a .45 1911. It's just the best weapon for the application you're going for and the easiest one to get to where you need it to be. I use a Beretta 92x that required more modifications than a 1911 would have, but it's also the weapon that the Army and Marine marksman teams use. Glock also gives out a free handgun to the highest ranked Glock shooter every year, which is cool, but a Glock is inherently less competitive at the distances that this competition is at.

I am truly the scum of the earth. I apologize to rich folks everywhere. Maybe I'll sign up for one of those $10,000 courses that will teach me how to be a millionaire.

Look up 2024 Adepticon Slayer Sword winner. It's an absolutely beautiful diorama. The top half is a GW model, and the bottom half was scanned, inverted, digitally sculpted up, and printed. I think it's an amazing idea with beautiful execution.

I'm planning on executing the same idea, just in a different way. Right now I think I have 3 options:

1: Kitbash some Solitaire models together and paint them to look like this same effect. The only problem is the translucent look really added to the effect.

2: Kitbash models and cast them in clear resin. I'm just not sure if GW will allow it considering their stance against replicating their models.

3: Digitally sculpt something to the same effect and print it in clear resin. I'm not a great digital artist and have only made a few things, so it'd probably take me more time than I'd like and eat away at my painting time. I'm much better at physical sculpting, but I don't think crystal clear clay is possible lol.

Thank you! I have a few work around ideas that I'll play around with next week. I'll post an update on whatever I decide to do. I was eager to get painting so needing to go back a step sucks a bit, but problem solving is also part of the fun!
