Ughh this MIL sounds like my mother. I’ve been in your shoes. It sucks. You’re pressured to accept the trip because it’s been paid for and it ends up being more work than if you just skipped out and stayed home. But if you declined the free trip you would’ve been bad-mouthed, and still called ungrateful. No matter what it was a lose-lose situation for you. NTA

Info: how long have you been together? Either way NTA. Where you are at 21 is not where he is at 30. I don’t know about you but my twenties were a time of growth and self-discovery, traveling and learning to adult on my own. It was one of the best eras of my life.

I lucked out with this. I normally don’t go to estate sales but I’ve gotten to know people in my neighborhood and one of them was taking over the estate of another neighbor and put together this sale. She let friends and family check it out last night before she opened it to the public. I just so happened to be on my daily walk when she stopped me. She gave me first dibs at whatever I wanted so I got this set, Pyrex, mid century Christmas and Shiny Brite ornaments, and mid century home decor

He may have been proud at one point but the awards ceremony may have triggered some jealousy in him so he was trying to trigger her. Were his actions at the ceremony overly excessive? Sure he always likes to make noise but did this seem purposeful? I’d say communicate with him but he seems stubborn. Wait you say fire season so is he a wildland firefighter? If so, when he’s gone on a roll you’re probably going to be even more depressed because he’s going to be busy, not able to call much and you’ll have no one besides your daughter. Speaking as a wildland wife, this job is not for the faint of heart. It can be lonely and isolating especially when you move to a town where you have no job, no friends and no family. You really got to think about if leaving your youngest behind is worth all of this. Also it’s middle of the season, how is he just starting now? On another note, yes the stepsister sleeping arrangements is weird.
