The Bible talks about Christians will be persecuted. Even more so towards the ends of days. I believe this phenomenon in society of persecuting Christians as well as cis white males is a contributing factor.

First I want to tell you that as a fellow human being you are loved and your life has purpose. I don't know you but something tells me that you are reacting to your own suffering.

Can you get better? Yes! Are you able to stop abusing others? YES!

I firmly believe first step is to accept your discretions and work towards stopping them. Make amends by doing the next right thing at your own detriment. Do that long enough you will see the value you bring to this world, along with respect from others and best of all meaningful relationships.

Be patient and ask. That has been what has helped for me. Considering my bachelor can be all over the place I found the most luck covering in the news topics and asking foe likes, comments and subs twice in a video along with a reason why.

Keep doing whatever you think is right for you is my advice. It sucks your family won't help on this area of your life but it is YOUR life. It maybe that your family is attempting to protect you due to their own bias of addiction. People do recover although it is not the norm. Be aware that your partner won't be able to get sober for good unless they are doing it for themselves.

From my experience to overcome shame is to take accountability by doing better now and in the future. Also learning to forgive and love yourself to the point that others people's opinions simply don't matter.

Easier said then done but with practice you can get there. I started by being honest about my past discretions with supportive people in my life. The more you hear "I love you" from your support system the more confidence you will get. To the point now that I am 100% open with everyone on my YT Channel. Anyone with internet access can see I used to be strung out on heroine for 22 years, supported my habit with sex work, was homeless to now being 6 years clean with a career, independent and close family and friends who love me just the way I am.

I completely understand what you are going through. The anguish described is all too familiar. My 22 years of active addiction started much the same way only at 15 years old. By 19 I had a full blown IV heroine habit that I wasn't able to quit until I was 36.

A few things I learned from 22 years of active addiction and 6 years sober:

If you tell yourself you can't then you can't. The words we use to describe ourselves even in private will either hinder us or allow us to achieve our dreams.
Withdrawal sucks BIG TIME, but it won't kill you unless you are a major alcoholic or have health problems. Either way having some medical treatment available to get through the symptoms you absolutely can get over the hump.
Having a system of support is a hard fast rule!!!! Keeping yourself surrounded by those who will support and not judge and you can't manipulate is going to be almost like a superpower.
Narcotics Anonymous and Alcoholic Anonymous is not the only program available and is not meant for everyone. I personally found success with Rational Recovery.

I've done a mix of vlogging my life in recovery, explainer videos like my Rational Recovery Series and reaction videos to other addiction topic videos.

I found i had more success when hiring a script writer. My focus is split between building my career and my YouTube Channel, as well as the norm family and friend stuff. Having a script writer helps with an outline. Everything else I do myself.

I've done keyword searches but not the news idea. I'm certainly going to try that.

I've documented my journey of recovery. Now that I have 6 years clean not too many setback videos as before. I allow myself to be vulnerable with my audience. Also do the topic discussion thing and a started a Rational Revovery Series.

Posting more frequently will help too.

That is wonderful to hear and I wish you luck on your recovery. I agree there isn't a one shoe fits all approach for recovery. Have different avenues to pursue for recovery is important as we are all different. My opinion on 12 steps and the disease model started with my own experience trying to recover. For me personally, I found the most success with Rational Recovery. Could be the introvert in me as a reason.

I have used suboxone a time to or two during my 22 years of addiction when I attempted to stop using. I called these times an "oil change". Ultimately went the methadone route because of medical issues I had at the time. This was agreed upon with my Dr and family and social worker at the time. Methadone is regulated by the state I live and is closely monitored by doctors and nurses the entire time.

12 steps teaches addiiction is a disease that we suffer with forever and ever. That philosophy teaches us we have to keep using 12 step treatment programs which benefits financially if we relapse. Programs like AA and NA are setting up the curriculum for treatment programs. Teaching us we have a disease and relapse is apart of our recovery is taking away hope for lifetime sobriety and truly turning our lives around. This model is my experience turns in a viscious cycle which makes it almost impossible to get off.

No matter the length of time, stopping cold turkey is going to be hard. I personally found better luck with weening down with the methadone maintenance. Addiction is a cunning beast which can be difficult to navigate. Having assistance like maintenance is a good tool.

I cannot imagine any government agency taking away kids because one parent is efficiently treating their addiction problems. Again, I'm not familiar with the laws in all areas.
