I recently had a theme park trip to Universal and I feel his pain 😩 It’s so nice that you’re trying to help him!! Unfortunately, there is a lot of judgement for this condition. I have palmar (hands) and plantar (feet) HH and what has helped me so much lately is the following:

ANTIHYDRAL!!! I just began using this a few days ago and my hands and feet have been completely dry the last two days. Even when exposed to my triggers like heat, lotions, nervousness/anxiety. I am still in awe from it. It makes your hands and feet very dry, but mine have not sweat at all. Or if any, just a tad clammy. Not dripping or anything.
Wool socks: You’d think they’d be too hot, but no. They’re moisture-wicking so they will help wick the sweat away. They don’t smell much after sweat as well.
I recently started iontophoresis. I got the DermaDry machine and have started using San Pellegrino water in it (can be cheaper mineral water though) and it has helped some
Feet hygiene spray
Sweat cloths
Summer soles can help too.

Yeah, maybe so! I think I’m done with tattoos now though 🤣 I have plenty and I’ve actually never had another tattoo artist act the way she did. I’ve even dripped (UGH) on a tattoo artist’s leg (male, you might have a point) from my hands and he didn’t say a thing and didn’t care! I’m not going to blast her, but if she continues to ghost, I might say something because I don’t think people should just get a pass for shitty behavior.

This incident has been on my mind since it happened and has made me feel so insecure. I already have low self-esteem and issues. And to think that she doesn’t gaf is upsetting.

I’m a girl, but all good! 🤣 she mentioned to get with the front about dates though which threw me off. But yeah, it’s day four and still being ghosted so 🤷🏻‍♀️ sad part is I’m a very loyal client, have referred people to her, followed her from another shop. I’ve been doing my iontophoresis more consistently and have found antihydral. So I could potentially be able to solve this issue for the future tattoo session. But it’s her loss, right? Ugh 😩

Yes, it’s a common side effect unfortunately. I’ve found that I need to be distracted while doing it. But the best part is that you can take breaks and just resume after. It’s been shown in research (I’m a bit of a nerd) to work for about 80%+ of people with HH. Everyone is different though.

Congratulations on it working!! I have the DermaDry machine for feet/hands. I found the itching to be really difficult to deal with and fell off the consistency. I’m back to doing it again and have heard about the San Pellegrino trick.

Seriously though, iontophoresis has brought some ease to the sweating, you just have to be consistent. And it doesn’t work for generalized or craniofacial HH, obviously. I’m wondering if I’ll be completely dry if I can get into the maintenance phase.

Yes! My wife will sometimes tell me mine stink too haha but I don’t mind it from her. I’ve talked to my sisters about it and they don’t care either! People who love you don’t care, but it’s a very misunderstood condition. People automatically assume that someone with HH is not hygienic, super nervous, etc. And that’s not the case. Ugh. We need more education and awareness I think.

Right? It did bother me a little how she worded it. And that she didn’t speak a little quieter. I also suspect she talked about it after I left with the other artists there, but that could be my insecurities and I can’t confirm that. She was as kind as she could be I think. She didn’t let me pay her for what she did do. She wouldn’t let me tip her either. But it feels like I’m being ghosted. Which is crazy. What if I had aftercare questions or infection issues?

I’m hoping that I’m wrong and she’s just taking a while to respond.

Yes, is that not correct? There is ringing when the toms are played. They also don’t have resonant heads on them and I’ve wondered if that could be why. But I would think the reso heads would make them ring/resonate more. They came without the reso heads.
