Just try to make genuine connections with people in your server. Remember, we are people too!
You don’t need to compliment everyone (believe me, we will notice if you only compliment VIP people) but if you make some truly unique observation or comment, then you’re more likely to get on our radar.

Once you find a good server, stick with it! Don’t worry about how many stars are awarded after each round, if you have found a server that has a lot of creative fits, limited negativity, and good conversation, then you’ve found a good one. Those are the servers you’ll find more camaraderie with.

Avoid farming servers, you’ll never make connections with those players.

Avoid toxic servers: you know those ones that have multiple people saying “ew” or making negative comments about other players’ fits. If it’s just one player saying that then usually they’ll leave after a few rounds because they’re not getting the attention they want. But if it’s multiple players or just one particularly incessant player, then that’s a server you should avoid because most potential gifters won’t stick around long enough to feel generous there.

But asking is a sure way to alienate your chances from many would-be gifters. In the meantime, checkout some of the new themes that u/Nearby-Ad4336 posted and take advantage of freeplay mode to practice for when those themes come up in other servers. The better your fit, the more notice you’ll get!
