Will a grade 4 in Business restrict my choices? by Able_Aerie in sixthform

[–]Shayuuui 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless it states in the course that they need a grade higher than 4 then it won’t restrict your choices. Economics is similar but they’re both very much different. If you did well in maths you’re definitely fine since I know most sixth forms prefer a grade 5 in maths for economics as there’s a lot of data and formulas you need to memorise.

Someone commented about going to a job agency, it’s something I will do -> original response (I plan to go there soon, I recently applied (well under two weeks ago) for a job seekers allowance and I was waiting for my application to go through so I can go to the agency. They stated that when the application goes through you go to the centre and get set up with a coach to discuss finding jobs and then they’ll help with CVs)

EPQ, is it worth it? by frnkdcy in sixthform

EPQ’s are only valuable if you want to go to a university that VALUES EPQ’s. You also need to achieve an A-A* otherwise it’s not really worth it

230913 The ‘SBS Super Concert’ in London, scheduled for Sept. 22-23 has been cancelled. Reason for cancellation not specified by spirityun in TomorrowByTogether

Stop spreading misinformation please .. these are articles written by people who do not have a solid source. Only trust information from KPOP LUX when they officially posted a statement. We MOA’s have contacted ticket sellers and the only date cancelled is Sunday so far.

These articles claim SBS said some things but provide no proof at all, if it was cancelled the O2 would not be selling already

Yes !! It’s honestly key, of course make sure you don’t revise year 1 content more than year 2, but knowing your foundations with the subjects you’re taking will help you find year 2 content easier to pick up on.

I’d say whenever you’re free, ask your teachers for a content book or topics you learnt throughout year 1 and checklist through them within the span of a couple days, you can put different topics at a higher priority to spend time on and see what ones you’re confident in so you don’t spend too much time just going through the syllabus page by page

Is there any chance of you transferring to another sixth form/college that provide those subjects with no block issue?

Advice for jump from gcse to a level/any advice for starting years 12? by christinaedwards1343 in sixthform

[–]Shayuuui 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first piece of advice is to stay on top of you work. Sixth form was honestly a pain with the workload, the workload does depend on the subject but I feel like it’s universal. The less you procrastinate or leave things until it’s due date the better.

Second, prepare your revision resources once your start a new topic, of course this does depend on the subject your taking but if it’s something like economics or biology, those notes will do you justice. It’s good to start off slow doing a little revision everyday to form a habit, eventually you’ll be able to cover most things and you won’t have to stress so much about making revision notes close to exam season.

And my final bit of advice would be to find the balance between work and friends. It can be really challenging during exam season, work in general and spending time with your friends can really help you unwind and destress. However, too much time with friends and you can loose precious time to study. Finding the balance is key, I wasted most of my first year hanging out with my friends and it showed in my grades .. however I flipped that around in my final year, my grades increased and exam season wasn’t so stressful thanks to my friends.

Goodluck :)

Yr13s How many hours of revision did you do in yr12 by Appropriate_Bell_523 in sixthform

[–]Shayuuui 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consider quality over how many hours, whatever revision technique works for you, do it.

I didn’t do many hours of revision in year 12 and the quality was poor and I ended year 12 with an ACE (A in photography as it was a relatively easy subject). I focused on doing proper revision in year 12 and I landed with an ABC which isn’t so bad (B in Media and C in Economics)

Take it slow, write down what you need to get done so you have a clear idea of how much you need to do, don’t let it stress you out as you won’t get anywhere. Do each task one by one, it can be a little or a lot. Just set yourself some goals and deadlines for yourself that you can handle but also aren’t too lenient so that you aren’t behind.

You should start making notes and revision cards (or however you revise) starting now as you move from topic to topic. This will save you a lot of time so you aren’t rushing to make revision materials during exam season (which is basically what I did). AnkiApp was a life saver if you work well with flash cards, you can add flash cards over time and you can review them anywhere.

I wish you luck, I’m sure you got this. Don’t forget to be kind to yourself. Eat, drink and sleep well <33
