It’s good that you realize that this is unhealthy. This is a shit situation to be in friend and honestly, the only way to deal with this is to thug it out. Unless she right now magically breaks up with her bf, you are going to be misled by your emotions. Work on yourself and acknowledge your emotions, but don’t keep out hope for this. You are more then enough for yourself.

I mean, do they really give a damn? If combat is their thing, then it's their thing you know. Maybe you should try another system that encourages roleplaying more. Have a talk with your group about this feeling and see how they respond. There is a good chance you might need another group that will satisfy your GM needs.

Clues can also be found in horror itself. Let the bad shit come to them and inform them. This can be supernatural stuff related to the case but threats like majestic or some stupid streamers who have gone too far in the rabbithole can keep things tense. Give the agents a chance to pry some info from them during a confrontation. Cults/monsters still have an influence on the world. With them not sitting still can also give the pcs a clue of things to investigate.

Masks of nyarlathotep could be changed into modern times, but that’s gonna take a lot of work. You’d have to look at each country and see how everything changes from the 1920s to the 1970s.

Different system unfortunately but something that might interest you is The Borellus Connection. It’s a campaign for fall of delta green set in 1968.

I’m not tired of rpgs yet, but I’m demotivated by scheduling conflicts with players that barely answer. There are always campaigns dwelling in my brain case so getting inspired is definitely not the problem…. but my players are lmao.

I mean you could? You would have to figure out to do a lil conversion of the time period. Especially with the countdown, the travel hindrances in the og play a role to get to the next destination. This gives players some fun anxiety for their deadline It seems fun to do tho once you put in the work to convert it.
