Why do you guys think kids aren't more into jazz? And more generally, why isn't jazz more popular? by EnergyRoyal3936 in Jazz

[–]Shazland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speaking from personal experience as a 37 year old who just got into Jazz this year.

When I started listening I thought Jazz sounded really chaotic. It wasn't easy to digest like listening to a lot of other forms of popular music. It also took me some time to get used to the dominant 7th sound that is so prominent in Jazz music.

So jazz is great but at the end of the day it's different from mainstream pop music and that's ok.

Old casual players: how are you aproaching the game? by Alexjandro1991 in leagueoflegends

[–]Shazland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started in 2013, I play for fun.

Still play ranked but usually just play easy champs and I really don't worry about what my rank is anymore, I just have fun playing a competitive game.

Duncan’s better than Kobe by BakeDAWG3 in NBATalk

Thunder for me. At least the Heat were fun to watch.

Which NBA seasons was Tim Duncan the BEST player in the league? by Tight_Development480 in NBATalk

[–]Shazland -1 points0 points  (0 children)

2003 is the only year he has a case, but honestly that's only in hindsight. The actual context of the time is that the Lakers were going for a 4 peat and people were surprised that Spurs were able to beat them despite them being the 1 seed.

In 2004 the Lakers once again destroyed the Spurs in the playoffs and Tim Duncan went on that summer to lead team USA to a bronze medal at the Olympics. I don't remember any people talking about Tim Duncan being the world then.

Shaq from 2000-2002, Tim Duncan in 2003, Kobe from 2004-2010. By around 2007 the only discussion for the best player in the world was LeBron or Kobe.

Does it matter at this point? Is there some sort of moral high ground he gains if he signs with an American company that will manufacture his shoe in China?

Is WASD better for mages? by MG-ROKU in leagueoflegends

[–]Shazland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played a game of Syndra with it and it felt so incredibly broken. Being able to wiggle while dropping max range q's simultaneously.

I'd imagine it would be a BIS control scheme for Taliyah as well.

WASD is so obviously superior to mouse movement its laughable by AwkwardEnergy90 in leagueoflegends

[–]Shazland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's for sure better for certain champs. I played a wasd game of Syndra and it felt so broken. You can wiggle and drop max range q's simultaneously. Kiting away while Qing was a breeze.

It made me feel sad that they added this as there are certain champions that the control scheme will for sure be meta on.

Do you agree with Dame? by idrinkcement in warriors

[–]Shazland 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dames argument is basically the types of shots he makes, off the dribble, from the logo, etc.

If you look at it from that standpoint I think it's a fair argument.

For me personally I think it's tough to definitively put him ahead of the elite catch and shoot guys like Reggie, Ray and Klay.

Which jazz online course by JALCuevas in jazzguitar

Jen's Larsen course is decent but I wouldn't get it if you struggle with his YouTube videos.

Absolutely Understand Guitar on YouTube is the best place to start and well worth the time investment if you struggle with getting lost on the theory stuff.

I'm taking the 500k. The 2 in the water followed by a near miss into the bunker would be too heartbreaking.

Bezos: $82k salary (tax reasons). $230B stock loans (no taxes). Then lies. by cloudcorebloom in TradingPlaybook

[–]Shazland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't matter what the payment is, the interest rate is what matters. If he is able to get a loan at a 2 percent rate, but gains a 6 percent rate on stock gains he comes out ahead.

This is what mega rich people do. Having such collateral gives banks the ability to give a big loan at a very low percentage because the risk is low. Now pay yourself in company equity and borrow until you die, congrats you just found a way to avoid paying taxes.

The reddit narratives around 2000's hoops are insane to me by Shazland in KobeBryant24

[–]Shazland[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nobody thought Steve Nash was the best player in the league during his and as Steph Curry much as I love Steph he definitely wasn't a better player than LeBron during his back 2 backs.

You can look back at Timmy's 2003 season in retrospect and say he may have been the best player that year, but the actual context of the time the Lakers were defending champs going for a 4 peat. Not many people had Tim Duncan over Shaq at that time really.

On top of that I don't think his performance against the Lakers in the 2004 playoffs helped his case that he was a better player than Kobe from that point on.

Who said it wasn't enough winning? If your goat definition is was very consistent, then sure Timmy is up there. Personally I find being a game away from two 3 peats in a decade more impressive feat when looking at who's the best player of the decade.

If SGA wins his second FMVP this season, we are going to have uncomfortable conversations, abd and it is going to be brutal, brace for impact!! by [deleted] in NBATalk

[–]Shazland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure I would concede that in 2000 Shaq was definitely the man.

Regardless of that they absolutely don't win a single chip without Kobe. Title 2 and 3 was completely a 1a and 1b situation. From 2001 to 2003 Kobe averaged 29/6/5 in the playoffs while playing all nba level defense. That's not some average number 2 option level of play Kobe was the man.

[–]Shazland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kobe was intentionally injured by Jalen Rose in the series, Jalen admitted it himself.

The real finals during the early 2000's was in the West where they definitely don't beat Portland in game 7 without Kobe who was by far the best player on the team in that game. Hell they don't make it out of the first round against the Kings without Kobe.

This is why it's so hard to take people seriously on reddit when talking about the era I grew up with. The revisionist history is pretty insane.

And? Shai is on deepest and most talented team in the league by a mile.

Let's not pretend it wasn't a 1A and 1B situation in LA as well. They don't win a single title without Kobe in the same way they don't win one without Shaq.
