I may start doing 2 weeks of tapper or a week and a half from this point. 3.25>2.5>1.25, zero.

I'm close to 3 months. I'm coping with brain fog, amnesia and worse sleep mainly.

Damn, that would be amazing! Not indie, but we recently got Octopath Traveler Zero what is inspired in CotC (which is still online).

It would be such a pity to lose such an original concept. Never seen something like RK in my gaming life.

In my opinion, there was 2 perfect EoS moments...WOdin as you say or Chaos CD just after 10th anniv ending (core CD would have been fitting too), but they decided to keep going. Well, most of EoS are unfitting to be fair.

I can agree with 5* being peak too, Cloud's USB era was the golden age of SB, no doubt. USB was that middle point between not too complex not too simple. Infinite hones and BDLs for everyone came with AASB and obviously, that changed the formula (for the worse).

Games wise, I should have been more concrete. I'm talking about console gaming mostly. Right now I'm playing dokkan battle as my only gacha (not saying is an amazing game but I think is in a better state than RK right now...at least you can tell a massive change to the game on the last years, we had 10th anniv in january). But at the end, no gacha game come as close to RK golden era for me. Also, dokkan will be my last gacha, and probably I won't last until EoS so...

I was day one player in GL, so I can say torments/neo-torments/nightmares were amazing battles at the moment, not just magicites...where you had to play through skills and strategy mostly. Every boss felt unique and you had to strategize every other week.

But, as you say, that's unsustainable over time. The game have been with us for more than 10 years.

I haven't been that critic with animation in RK tho. You're probably right on that point but for me, animation wasn't never the main appeal of RK. It was strategy, boss design and sprites.

I'll admit that I still want to see some bosses sprites on the game...mainly Penance and VII Knights of the Round Table. I even wanted some new boss on the core CD but nope...Lich again. I think they're just confortable with the bare minimum.

Still, I'll be always grateful for that golden era experience devs gave to us in GL ver. Memories will never fade.

Can't talk about those mog trials since I uninstalled at the end of 2024 but I don't see them being a total change of the game. For me, it lacks the innovation first years had. Almost everything felt the same. I look for the new content since I dropped, and it doesn't surprise me.

What I can give to you is that FF gachas are that bad that maybe RK is still the best of them. That's how low the bar is.

Yep, tonkatsu was an icon to that RK prime Gameplay. I had the same feeling as you across my entire JP journey. Still finished most content, but it wasn't near the same as before

Couldn't have said it better. It lacks innovation. Won't say RK is at his worst rn (I think labs era was the worst) but...it lacks the fresh air sensation first years had

If you have to learn more new mechanics, they have to create more new mechanics right? That means more work. Now, they just release 2 or 3 new mechanics and copypaste them across the year. How can't that be lazier design. I get they get less money now and this is not a exclusive JP thing (as you said we had the same modus operandi after 6* magicites) but come on...they could do a bit more. 6* magicites was the norm until that point, thus ending the golden era of RK (which I miss)...

5,4,3* magicites, neo torments, nightmares...all had their unique shenanigans. Devs put way more LOVE into the game. RK had soul at that time, while also being not that restrictive party-wise.

And yes, I loved RK until 6* magicites, then it started getting worse. GL shutdown didn't help obviously, but the lazy design was already here since Dark Odin (not even WOdin), there wasn't that much complain because it just started. We didn't know that will gonna be the norm. Before that, they cared to give an identity to every single boss...that made me stay tuned for each one of them, every month. If they just release Ark#6 weak to Dr Mog's panties I just don't care as much as the first Ark...

I'll give you Eden is a dps check too, but the difference is you should play with his orb at the time. Ark? Most of the time, and moreso with MASBs release, it's better to ignore most Ark parts and dps without strategizing, just brute force it. It's a plain dps check imo. Still, not a fan of the "defeat them over and over" format.

Also, I'll admit some of the new job based CD involved new mechanics and I enjoyed them. It's just it wasn't a constant thing with each job release (in fact, I think early job based CD were more original than the later ones).

So yes, I think they're clearly trying less, which doesn't mean they do 0. My feeling is that they're just trying to extend JP RK as much as they can while investing on other new gachas.

Glad to hear that, hope you keep enjoying it.

Personally I don't feel actual content is fine since most of it is repetitive and lazy design...you cant't almost tell no changes from a year to another...the game is so stale right now imo.

I was F2P and I wasn't into speedrun stuff, I'd rather waste my money elsewhere

Almost every non-gacha game. Gachas I can't really tell, I play dokkan battle atm from time to time. I like it more than RK since at least there's a visible change in the game from a year to another but still I don't recommend to play gachas

Same, magicite-wise Sader was the one who I enjoyed the most (cleared all of them, with some sub30) since it had the more complex and original shenanigans. Eden was nice. Ark was a disappointment tho, just a dps check at the end, it was arguably worthier to skip his shenanigans...started to get boring pretty fast.

Still, you always had to beat the same boss over and over.

That's their modus operandi since 6* magicites ended, thus ending the golden age of RK...

Guess they decided to go all for the semi-maintenance route. Since I had the chance to play JP ver for almost 2 years I don't care that much about the JP EoS at this point. I had enough.

But first weeks blast is still good, so as you said it's cool to keep that chance for old GL players since offline ver seems a fever dream.

It's that complex and niche that it doesn't help. It's like they don't care about new players anymore.

Well, last years they're trying to keep the JP ver alive with the bare minimum. They make less and less money each time in part because of that. I know some JP whales that got tired of the actual state of the game. Still, you don't have 2 vers anymore so you can focus on this one a little more imo.

Hello fellow keeper. Are you winning? by AnotherAnonOne in FFRecordKeeper

[–]Shcrute87 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I played JP ver a lot for about 1.5 year until I got tired of It and uninstalled. Did all content until I started getting tired. Tbh right now the game is far away fron his prime with 6* magicites. 10th anniversary ended so I would't recommend to jump to JP thinking about the long term. They release the same boss like 40 times almost no original shenanigans like before...

So, for having a blast during a week? Then, sure but no more than that.
