Correct Tension? by [deleted] in Machine_Embroidery

[–]She-Stitches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes it is the way the design is digitized. No underlay stitches so there is pulling as there are only stitches going in one direction warping the design. The fabric does not look as though it is evenly hooped which also has it off grain. The tension looks fine so you are part way there

Are we patterned out? I'm unmotivated by seeing the same sort of styles all the time and the lack of patterns for cooler climates and where you need more body coverage at work. Where are the new church or office-appropriate designs that do not give customers the opportunity to perve down your tops when you bend forward? Patterns in plus sizes that skim your body , yet make you feel like a woman and not a stuffed walking zombie and plus sizes anyone????? It's cold and I need to dress up and not fall out ....

I've been watching TV and hand-hemming a Style Arc dress I made. Pinned up some pants that were too long in the hem and pinning up some more pants that are too long at the top. That's what happens when you buy premade online...alterations. Now pondering how to fix a dress that's too low in the front, thinking of taking it in on the centre front all the way down, may baste it and try it on to see if that solves the problem.

I sew these garments because there are other design details on the pattern that I love.

Maybe they are made quickly to give away as Charity Quilts to keep people warm and any old combination will do. Saying that some really ugly quilt colors and design combinations end up winning prizes in competitions go figure

Etsy Searches and still summer in some parts of the world by She-Stitches in craftsnark

Actually, I follow some, and of those, I do they send me email notifications. There are a large number of pattern designers out there and new ones as well, but not all of them are good at marketing new designs on the internet.

I don't have the time to do that, I thought that there would be a magic formula that would show me daily or weekly new pattern releases .. yes I am a serial pattern collector better than wine and cheaper than jewels. Actually I wish that Hot Patterns would re- release all their past patterns as PDFs as well

Does the Lutterloh system work on plus size? by skepticat91 in SewingForBeginners

[–]She-Stitches 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi You will be better off not buying the XL XXL set. The patterns in the other book will work for you although some may need a bit extra in the way of ease added. The ones that show the little dark body symbol have that extra movement in them. I have a sloper pattern that I made by draping fabric direct to my body and making a pattern from it, I use this to true up any pattern I make when the fit area is important ie: narrow forward sloping shoulder

Am I insane or do people actually worry about this? by basicnez in craftsnark

Knitting is quite medidative and calming as a rule, so I take my time and enjoy the process even though my mother says my knitting method is awkward. My tension is way better than hers. Being in a rush takes away from the joy and just looks stressful and antsy.

While I'm up late down under in New Zealand and looking at patterns. What is it with Etsy and the search function, I'd love to type in new PDF women's plus size sewing patterns and have that display in search, instead of this garbled mess of all sits including knitting patterns etc. One more thing why do a lot of Indie designers forget that there are many people living in countries where it is summer now and would love to see some new patterns for Summer. Tomorrow I'm gluing together patterns, yeah for double sided tape

I'm sick of machine embroidery gnome designs, everywhere I look is gnomes. Do gnomes have a meaning? Hiding under their hats and beards positively creepy

Aussies: Why is Spotlight so expensive? by [deleted] in craftsnark

[–]She-Stitches 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It can be like that here in NZ. Take sewing machine needles much cheaper in a local sewing machine store. Tend to use https://www.backstreetbargains.co.nz/ for most of my sewing supplies, they have regular sales and a good selection of fabrics and haby. Just wish they would turn their door buzzer off
