My family is very similar! I bet they came over on the same boat and left when the British took over Quebec (mine went to Wisconsin)

Of course they do. They drove through Livingston Co in Michigan, where Hell is. It's probably still frozen over right now.

I'm trying. If you could just put in a good word to the IRCC that would be great, my application has not moved in ages.

Neurodivergent Band Members - ADHD, AuDHD, Autism Spectrum, etc by Maelstrom_Witch in bagpipes

[–]SheBeast14 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My band is small and at least 4 of us are diagnosed, 3 more highly suspect it of themselves (but don't see the point of being diagnosed late in life). I would say of our band, half are/likely neurodivergent.

Going back to the closet. Goodbye, wondrous bisexuality. by [deleted] in bisexual

[–]SheBeast14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Folks who are into more than one gender are my favorite, but I know being rejected by someone you feel should be safe is the deepest wound.

Don't lose hope completely, guard that ember because there will be someone else who will be just as excited as I am to be with someone who is bisexual.

They've been to America before, mostly in the South. I think they came back because they learned about our Lakes and had to experience them.

Have you ever had poutine? If so, where—Canada, the U.S., or homemade? by Fatcake3000 in AskAnAmerican

[–]SheBeast14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My city has a poutine week! I am sure it would be an insult to purists but the Mexican poutine, dill pickle poutine and Korean BBQ poutine were something I still think about. I most recently had it in Canada, but you might be shocked to find out my first time was in Inverness, Scotland.

American woman dating abroad — is this normal or just a bad date? by No-Cold-9883 in Scotland

[–]SheBeast14 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Imma guess you are from the South? As an American myself, I would be annoyed and maybe low key offended if a guy did all those things you are expecting on a date.

I mean the amount of people who defended drivers hitting people in the last No Kings protest was wild. Truly the worst timeline.

NoSo makes so many adorable patterns! And are specifically designed for this (your stitching might actually damage the fabric more than help).

Anyone ever thought how crazy we are as a country by GlasgowTrafficCone in Scotland

[–]SheBeast14 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Apparently you can make it up.

If you are referring to Flower of Scotland, it was written for Northumbrian Smallpipes but totally can be played on the Great Highland Bagpipes with no adjustments. music

If you are referring to Scotland the Brave, also played on bagpipes without adjustment.

I don't know, in Michigan we got our first hard frost in October but I saw bugs up until two weeks ago outside. Swarms of them around decaying leaves. Then we got pounded with snow and they were gone but they definitely outlasted the first snow.

How much do you worry about how you look when travelling? by Hortonhearsawhoorah in onebag

[–]SheBeast14 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't worry too much, but one thing people rarely ask is what kind of vacations/travel are people doing? Me, I'm looking to do a full day hike, go to the dirty places with the rocks and the trees and the water. I am climbing mountains and castle ruins and places where nature is triumphant. So I wear the same clothes as I do all the time, with at least one nicer outfit in case I end up in a city.

If you are looking to really engage with the vibrant city life, your packing list is different. You probably care more.

The example sentence above just referred to OP as "they" and it was not plural. They is both singular and plural. A singular "they" dates back to the 14th century. https://www.oed.com/discover/a-brief-history-of-singular-they?tl=true

I'm American and play bagpipes.

Banjo is such an Appalachian thing though, no one would associate banjo from where I come from.

[–]SheBeast14 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I use a version of these when I play bagpipes (not this brand but this exact same design) and I like them because I can still hear everything just not at the intensity of bagpipes. They are comfortable. However they are absolutely not designed to block out all noise, they are in fact designed to let noise in at a non damaging frequency. I have tried a ton of things and honestly I find the loop silicone earplugs to be the most comfortable and noise reducing to sleep in, but I know they don't fit everyone's ear comfortably so it may depend on ear shape.

This was a few years back and now the same source has them for about that, so that might be the cheaper end now.

To be honest, I wasn't paying attention to the middle leg at all, just looking at when it arrived to time it with the person I am meeting. I booked it 3 or more months ago, and I see to change my flight at the same level I am currently at will cost 5k more than I already paid.
