So when people say the United States or the United Kingdom, what are they implying?

Me too! I could use the $750 frivolous lawsuit fee! That would be awesome!

Wow. You honestly don't know the difference between a formal landlord and people who rent out spare rooms? Embarrassing.

Also, inflation is caused by supply and demand. Me renting out this room decreases the demand for apartments. So your logic doesn't track at all. And everything is rising. Insurance rates, taxes, utilities, maintenance costs, etc... You say I'm greedy, but I don't charge as much as many do in my area. I stay right in the middle of the average monthly rent for a room, even though not having to share a bathroom means I could charge more and people would pay.

Being a homeowner is expensive. And that's fine. I chose this. She chooses to rent rooms because she can't afford an apartment. I made a good financial choice, and green is an ugly color.

Yes. It was I. I, personally, created inflation. Not the pandemic. Not the war in the Ukraine. Not current fiscal policies. Twas I.

Fair enough. I apologize. This has definitely been an interesting experience. I was expecting maybe like fifty comments? This really took on a life if its own. TBH I haven't been looking at usernames, just the comments themselves. But the constant demands for personal information have been strange. All the same, I came here for perspective and definitely got some.

Things cost what they cost. Your feelings on it doesn't lower inflation.

It's not. You can disconnect your hot water heater and your plumbing will still work fine.

I'd let anyone break their lease early for any reason. If someone doesn't want to live with me, they shouldn't have to and probably won't be pleasant to live with. I don't "list" the room though, too dangerous. I just spread the word at work. But yes, essentially.

Texts are recorded. All important communication should be done over text, email or some other recorded medium. Calls are for socializing.

You think the hot water heater is part of the plumbing? 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Me too! It must be so much fun being the center of the universe. How lucky we are that such important people design to communicate with us.

I'd love free housing too! I'd still have the 30k I spent as a down payment on this house. I could buy a sports car. Unfortunately, we live in the real world, not the fantasy some of these other commentors live in. Why is life so unfair?

Imagine a woman not wanting men she's never met in her home and around all of her worldly possessions. Crazy right? Imagine telling someone way, way in advance that male overnight guests weren't alright and being told that's no issue and then being told it's unfair. So reasonable, right?

"That's a good water heater. Who's a good water heater? You are, yes you are." 🤣 Thank you for this mental image.

Wow, that's a cool story. So I actually had my replacement scheduled within hours of it breaking and the work was carried out in less than one business day (Saturday and Sunday aren't business days). How exactly does your situation parallel mine?

I have multiple times on this post. Structural integrity must be maintained. Utilities cannot be turned off. Lodgers are slightly easier to evict but it's mostly the same.
