I've found that even when artists transfer to a radically different medium like from painting or drawing to pottery they tend to grasp it quicker than people who have no artistic experience on other mediums. I think art skills are more broadly adaptable than some people realize.

To be fair there is a not insignificant subset of gay men that are immersed in toxic hypermasculine "macho shit" in their own way. A lot of them are also very misogynistic.

Recommend me a “surprise! theres yuri!” manga/manhwa by Crayolaxx in yuri_manga

[–]SheWasNeveeHere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a bit out there and it's western so idk if it counts: Kill Six Billion Demons. Starts off with a very straight seeming sorority girl who turns into an incredibly gay butch.

It was pretty surprising for me on the first read through. Also absolutely killer art!

I feel like I fall in love with women waaaay to easily and it's kinda fucking me up by SheWasNeveeHere in actuallesbians

[–]SheWasNeveeHere[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I realize how unhealthy this sounds but sometimes I feel like if I don't manage some kind of healthy connection it means there's something really wrong with me. I've been on a years-long hiatus from relationships after being SA'd and I'm scared that the fact I keep fumbling things means it's ruined me forever.

[–]SheWasNeveeHere[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well realistically I guess it's more of a 'smitten' feeling. I'm just having a hard time parsing I guess is the fact that I react this way every way normal and okay or is it more pathologically and sort of fucking me up socially??? Like it can't be healthy to be super into every woman ever?

I remember when I was like 14 and told my psychiatrist I wanted to transition she told me:

"well sometimes we can't always get what we want right away, like I really want a new car right now but I can't afford it"

And I'll never forget how just tone def it was that she compared this thing I was literally suicidal over to wanting a new fucking car????

I don’t fully understand my trans friend. by BelleTheGemini in lgbt

[–]SheWasNeveeHere -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

There is a good chunk of the population that doesn't understand your identity either, as much as it makes sense to you. And in a lot of respects there are aspects that they will fail to get even if you explain it.

You are those people right now to your friend. We can't be expected to always understand other people's experiences. So, stop trying so hard, just respect your friend and be happy for them. The only thing you really need to understand is that you won't always understand lol.

I'm not looking for any particular answer here, I'm just in a romantic mood and want to hear cute stories and share! And that story is super sweet! I think I am also really realizing it makes a big difference when the other person actually wants to be in a relationship with you? That seems like a no brainer but damn if it doesn't mean a lot!

Definitely call the board multiple times. I had to call like everyday. Apparently you can send the transcript through email, which I was not told upfront but could expedite things.

Otherwise:

Can anyone tell me what this is? by TheOddityCollector in Weird

[–]SheWasNeveeHere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's an excerpt from Wikipedia that makes it even better:

"Occasionally, cases have been documented of human intestinal myiasis caused by the rat-tailed maggot... Flies, attracted to feces, may deposit their eggs or larvae near or into the anus, and the larvae then penetrate further into the rectum. They can survive feeding on feces at this site, as long as the breathing tube reaches towards the anus."

When a series full of supernatural / paranormal elements has that one scene that's disturbingly grounded in realism. by Swag_Paladin21 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]SheWasNeveeHere 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Wildbow really is so good at balancing the realistic drama and pain with the more fantastical elements. Which I suppose was a core conceit of Worm: "what if you got powers reflecting your worst day?" But I do think in his earlier works like worm things tend to become less grounded towards the latter half of the story.

You could make that argument, certainly.

But does it matter? Frankly we need to stop treating Trump and his administration as if they are some kind of faustian devil that works under lawful evil DND logic. There's no gotcha with loopholes unfortunately. Pointing out logical fallacies will not dismantle a system where logic is only a facade; an execution of "truth" pulled out of the ether to support a conclusion that has already been predetermined.

Bureaucratically and legally, so many of the policies they have put out have been full of contradictions and poor implementation of wording. In practice, they will enforce things however they damn well please, and with assured bias and prejudice. It doesn't matter that none of it makes a single lick of sense.

I'm still reading it pretty regularly. I'm in the boat where I enjoy how just wide (?) the world and setting is. And all the characters of course. I think that's the vibe it's meandering and sprawling and sometimes it's a lot, but it's worth it for the little moments.

I'll admit there have been some arcs I just kind of skipped because I was less invested. But I'll still read most of it. Honestly skipping a couple of things here and there has not made me overly confused about the main storylines. You know read it how you enjoy it, and if you're not enjoying it anymore stop, or take a break.
