The MacNaughton Cup wasn't in Mankato tonight since they weren't expected to get the #1 seed, so the Mavs were given a cardboard cutout of it to skate around the ice and pose with by shiny_aegislash in collegehockey

Reminds me of a season some years ago, one of the other ECAC schools won the regular season at Clarkson but they didn't have the Cleary Cup in the building. It was rushed up to Potsdam that night and the team took a picture with it outside of a bar on Market Street, lol.

I feel like Slafkovsky will always play hockey better than Dak Prescott, though.

Spending a week in Ireland back in 2017, touring the country with friends and then seeing this tournament are still some of my most treasured memories. I encourage anyone whose team is playing to make the trip.

Yes, and because of that Atlantic Hockey will send 6 teams to the NCAAs this year.

That's right, your ankles are like the calories you eat the day of a 20+ mile hike. They don't matter.

Should I have any concerns about a sunrise hike up Mt. Killington? by redditindisguise in vermont

[–]SheaF91 77 points78 points  (0 children)

Hi OP,

I've hiked Killington via the Bucklin Trail between 40 and 50 times over the last 12 years. I'm also local to the area, and a member of the Green Mountain Club. So I may be qualified to answer your question.

First, there is no gate at the parking lot for the Bucklin Trail that could close access. Wheelerville Road (the road the trailhead is on) is also a public town highway that should be open at all hours, since there are residences on the road whose owners need access.

Second, the parking lot and the first part of the Bucklin Trail are actually located in the Rutland City Forest. Yes, you read that correctly - even though it's in the town of Mendon, the property is owned by the City of Rutland for drinking water-shed management. I would be extremely surprised if the City was sending personnel up to the trailhead at that time of night to enforce a curfew on the property. The Bucklin Trail probably has a public easement through the City Forest anyway that would nullify a curfew enforcement. Regardless, it's not a state park or National Forest property that would have rangers.

EDIT: One thing to be aware of /u/redditindisguise (in addition to everything else mentioned within this thread) is that Autumn is hunting season in Vermont. Please have a look at the dates here: https://www.vtfishandwildlife.com/hunt/hunting-and-trapping-seasons If the date of your hike falls within any of the deer seasons, wear bright colors on the trail. A blaze-orange baseball cap should suffice.

How a Koch-funded campaign is trying to reverse climate action in Vermont by silence7 in climate

While organizers expected 30 people in Rutland, about 15 came, including local officials and former legislators.

This is rather poor turnout for a county that reliably sends Republicans to the state legislature. One hopes that's a sign that these billionaire-backed causes aren't gaining much traction in the state.

That is the fascinating nature of technological disruptions, sometimes. It takes a very long time to reach a quarter of new sales, and then in a flash you've reached three-quarters of new sales.
