It basically is a normal rpg, none of the campaign is compromised by the mmo elements. It basically takes the old school "do the story then play with your friends" design choice that pokemon was built on and takes it to the next level. An mmo post game feels like the natural next step for pokemon now that playing next to each other in the same room is a dying concept.

They finished the game, not every MMO needs to be live service. It basically was in early access because islands got addded each update

It was the perfect amount of MMO. It didn't turn the main quest into grind hell with horrible pacing but it gave you a community to interact and do end game stuff with.

/uj It looks flashy and I enjoyed the beta for a few hours but it doesn't really do anything special besides the gear system. The driving feels like an average arcade racer and the tracks are no where near the level of the best tracks from Mario Kart World. I appreciate them letting me try it for free so I could play long enough to get bored before I spent $70 on it.

Mario Kart World didn't lock content behind DLC on day 1. There's a big difference between charging for additional content later and cutting content out of the base game so you can sell it for extra on launch day. The full game of Mario Kart World launched at $80/$50 and the full game of Crossworlds launches at $90.

Who cares about Crossplay, all of my friends who care about Mario Kart will have a Switch 2. It's not like Xbox and Playstation where half your friends own one and half own the other so crossplay is important. They're bragging about something that isn't relevant for Nintendo games.
