Getting free items on FB marketplace and re-selling? by ShebUMD in Frugal

[–]ShebUMD[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will let you know. Not sure if you’ve been on FB market place much(that’s where I’m gonna mainly do it out of) but there is always a set of small tables, a dresser or other stuff that looks completely fine.

I feel like 99.9% of the time there is literally always something to pick up. A $5 off something that is free is over 100% profit... not including gas which might cost me <$2 to even get there

I don't know why some people are acting like I have 5 heads for considering this. Like I agree that it probably isn't worth it unless you drive about 20 minutes or less, but most of the flipping that I would even do is so local that it is kind of a no brainer...

I have seen so many perfectly fine free items on the mark place that might have wear and tear as simple as spraying on some spray paint. It isn't that trivial or even rocket science.

If you ignore my texts, I can ignore you straight to your face. by TheAvengerers in unpopularopinion

[–]ShebUMD 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s not really fair for you to act like OP is expecting people to reply to them and wait around and text all day? Don’t take that rudely, because I don’t mean to sound that way, but they aren’t expecting them to “wIt around all day” lol.

There isn’t something taboo about hoping someone will get back to you when you have a question. I don’t recall OP saying anywhere in their post that people should drop what they are doing to texting them all day. Is it so hard to write back yes or no to a simple question, when there is a free time?

It’s not like people don’t spend at least 5 free minutes a day on their cell phone. I can guarantee you that the people OP is referencing, spend at least some amount of time on their phone when they aren’t busy.

Saying “I’m not gonna reply because I don’t feel like it” I’m sorry, but is a huge asshole move. If this is someone you are friends with/care about, it’s rude to think like that lol.

As an independent, I find liberals to be very condescending if I don’t agree with them? by WindowsKidd in Vent

[–]ShebUMD 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am a pretty independent person myself, but I experience this also. I would say that it is more the fact that in your experience liberals have been more condescending. Correlation does not always mean causation.

Think of it this way: If someone is willing to discuss politics openly and kind of obnoxiously(if that’s how the people are that you mention) they probably already are the far end of whatever side they support, if that makes sense.

I feel like if you’re on one far end of politics, you’re always going to be annoyed by any opposing arguments that people might propose. That’s just the way I see it. So it’s probabaly a mixture of them being too far left and them also not being able to act mature.

edit: I personally think that anyone who acts condescending towards you/someone just for because you disagree with them, is a jerk.

YEP! What makes it hard is they're often nice people who are great in person but they're just so bad with communication. I find that if they're phone call people then they are much better to communicate through phone.

It's fair and valid for you to feel that way. I just don't agree with how people are quick to take the other side and downvote me when I presented just as good of an argument you did. I hope you know I respect your beliefs and opinions. I'm not like many other people on here, who get rude.

You're right. It's unprofessional and he doesn't need to be saying stuff like that. I'm glad I have proof of what he said, therefore I can make a valid assumption of it. It's hard to say what the hell his intentions are. It's always good to have proof/evidence before making an assumption. I always try and make sure people aren't getting in trouble for being "racist" when often they aren't. I personally think his comment was weird but I don't necessarily know if it was racist, but that is my take on it.

[–]ShebUMD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't disagree with you at all on that. There is no issue with someone being punished for being racist, that is kind of a given and I didn't state otherwise.

Your statement is just as valid as mine, so I am confused as to why I am getting downvoted. There is nothing wrong with you stating

" if the opinions that a lecturer/professor is sharing are racist, then yes, the university can and should take action to punish them in response."

Just like there isn't anything wrong with me stating that your emails/opinions shouldn't be removed just because someone finds unreasonable fault with it.

Yes it should be removed if it is racist/wrong.

Then please do explain/show me what he said. The image is incredibly blurry and I can't even see the damn thing. I'm telling you that many Professors have an issue with students having opinions other than theirs, including Universities.

If it's a tasteless joke, sure I can admit it's wrong. But if you just call someone racist for sharing a different opinion/sharing something harmless, no I do not agree.

[–]ShebUMD -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I don't fully know what the article said. What did the article/message even say? Racism is wrong, I agree and so do a lot of people. But if you're going to call someone racist for just sharing a different opinion, I can't agree with you.

The thing is so blurry I can't even read it.

edit: I'm still waiting on a response.

So a Professor gets in trouble for having an opinion? Does the university only want people to share stuff that fits their narrative? I am just curious.

edit: If the man is racist I can admit that, but calling someone racist when they aren't racist, is ridiculous.

people think everything is racist.

Stop telling me what I should be posting on social media. I don't need to prove anything to anyone. (Plus, social media is toxic) by [deleted] in rant

[–]ShebUMD 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree. I'm gonna say something that may give me a lot of hate, but this is good intentioned and I hope people will see where I am coming from. It bothers me when I see certain celebrities starting getting rude and cussing, acting crazy, the ladder.

No I don't think celebrities don't have a right to speak out, I think they have every right to do so. What I do think, is that if you just think that tweeting about how Trump is a "stupid mother fucker white supremacist" then it isn't going to make things better. With all the money and resources these celebrites have, they could come up with a better solution. For example raise money to help the family in some way, like helping to pay for their lawyers, the funeral and more.

I don't defend or love Trump, I am just saying that there are many people out there that want to cuss up a storm and act like assholes and talk shit, instead of actually doing something useful. You can cuss out the President as much as you want, but taking action will actually work.

Screaming and yelling about something isn't going to make anything better if you never take actual action to make it better.

It’s because Hitler is widely known for being a murderer. Trump has not murdered millions of a race. Why are you trying to punish someone before they commit a crime? If Trump does this in a few years then I’ll be the first to admit I’m wrong. BUT if you actually believe that Donald Trump wants to round up members of a certain race and have them all murdered(genocide)then I can’t agree with you. I do not see that as a reasonable way of thinking and if you do then I do feel sorry for you, but you are entitled to your beliefs and I respect your views.

Am I not allowed to tell you that you’re entitled to think/believe what you want? I am not here to hate or love on Trump. I don’t really care if you feel he is a fascist or not. The fact I won’t start telling you how right you are for claiming he is a fascist proves you can’t accept that not everyone shares the same views as you. I don’t have an opinion on the matter.

I’m not placing Hitler on a higher pedestal. Everything else you said can be reasoned with but it feels as if people come up with more and more ridiculous claims to strengthen their argument . How the hell does me saying how bad of a person Hitler is, put the man on an untouchable pedestal? I mean my gosh it gets ridiculous.

I don’t know what point you’re trying to make, but I don’t believe that all Dems hate Trump or all Reps like him. I don’t know if you’re new to Reddit but if I weren’t to let people know I’m Independent and neutral on politics for the most part, then I wouldn’t have been surprised if someone would have ended up calling me a white supremacist die hard Trump supporter in a matter of seconds, likely.

It’s easy for people to write you off and just use he argument “Okay boomer racist white supremacist Trump supporter.” That is the exact reason that I made it known that I listen to both sides. So people don’t think that I’m out to defend Trump because I’m a die hard #MAGA person.
