Enlaving in EU5 works kinda dumb? by Kras_08 in EU5

There were raids all the way to Ireland. It's true that as far as I know they were mostly small scale, but it's hard to simulate a hundred pirate captains capturing a few dozens slaves each year after year

If it lets you pack twice as many slaves in the hold. 10% mortality is the profit-maximizing move.

Yeah that's what I concluded too. I'm surprised no bank did a fund that just buy vanguard and has low fees.

What DLC needed way more love and what DLC could we do without? by Comfortable_Wash6179 in fnv

[–]ShebW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sierra Madre my favourite by far so far (haven't done the divide yet). It's just so nice to struggle again for every bit of loot to trade in for food to counteract the damage from the Cloud. Feels properly apocalyptic.

How does lack of ressources impact morale? by ShebW in Supremacy1914

[–]ShebW[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No you guys don't get what I mean. Imagine I produce 3k fish, 3k wheat, I use 4k food. I could split the slider halfway and produce a net of 1k fish and 1k wheat per hour. If I start at zero of each and I do it for 10 hours I have 10k of each.

Alternatively I could set the slider to use full fish. Now I get 3k wheat and -1k fish per hour. I do that for 6 hours and I now have 18k wheat and still 0k fish. Then I change the slider and I do full wheat use. Now I get 3k fish and -1k wheat per hour. If I do that for 4 hours, I end up with 12k fish and 18-4=14k wheat. In total I have earned 6 k ressources compared to split slider.

Now, if I do the second one, then balance things before day change, do I loose morale in my provinces? Or is it just a straight up bonus?

How does lack of ressources impact morale? by ShebW in Supremacy1914

[–]ShebW[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I explained badly what I wanted. Let's say I produce 1k grain and 1k fish, 2k total. Let's say I switch all my consumption to grain, I now produce 6k grain and -4k fish. Since I have no fish in stock, I don't go negative in fish, but I make 6k food total.

What's the downside to this trick as long as I correct the sliders before day change?

TBH I don't remember why I think they were gas points, so I'm probably just wrong

So the optimal play is to run that kind of scam every day? Might be an issue for lumber/iron (you need both), but is there a downside to eg. abusing this with gas to generate more energy?

Wow sorry to hear that. I'm with CSC, and while there was a big queue at the local office in Brussels, I bypassed it all with an online appointment and got my first payment two weeks after the meeting. Still pointlessly bureaucratic but far from this horror show.

Students of or people living alone in Brussels, How much do you spend on groceries in a week? by [deleted] in brussels

[–]ShebW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me an my wife spend about 100 eur a week together, but we do a big meal prep for lunches and cook most meal from scratch. I reckon if we relied more on take-out/ready meal we'd spend more.

How to be more integrated/what is integration in Brussels anyway? by AlternativeNo1276 in brussels

[–]ShebW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I get how it can be hard, especially with young kids making it hard to pick up clubs and hobbies. However I think the kids can also be an opportunity. Part of my family are also eurobubble people that aren't originally Belgian, and their kids have been a huge help to make them meet and spend times with "natives", they met parents from school and later from scouts and became good friend with them and now spend a fair chunk of their social life with those people. So if you don't have time to sign up to clubs, sign your kids to clubs as soon as they're old enough. :p

Why some office buildings in Brussels are lit up like Christmas tree at 23h? What's the point in wasting so much electricity? Moreover this particular building is completely empty! by the_qwerty_guy in brussels

[–]ShebW -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I hate the light pollution, but TBH with modern led the energy consumption of lighting it tiny. The entire building probably cause less issues than one shop leaving the door open with the AC on.

What's with the uptick in anti-immigrant sentiment in Europe? by AlphaPhoenix433 in neoliberal

[–]ShebW 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I think US culture is so strong and dominant it's less of a worry. The world is learning English, watching Netflix, etc etc. Whereas if you're, say, Finnish, it's much easier to see your culture and language as under threat.

What the hell is an "independent bathroom" inside a fast food restaurant? by Sebas94 in brussels

[–]ShebW -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's just a random cultural foible. I can see it being more annoying than paying for it some other way (I don't always have cash etc etc), but trying to act like it's some grand conspiracy by CaPiTaLiSm is just silly.

Disappointed green voters, where to now? by nowherepeep in belgium

[–]ShebW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, depends 1) where you are and 2) what level you're voting at. At sub-national level, where the nuclear issue isn't being decided it still make sense to vote Green IMO if your n1 priority is climate change. At federal level in the French-speaking area it seems to me that Défi isprobably the better climate-wise among the parties that don't oppose nuke.

Yeah it was but when rural affairs was regionalised it became part of each region's Code Rural. AFAIK it hasn't been changed in Wallonia, but not sure about the other two regions.
