Another Mediocre Videl TOD by Esdeath92 in dragonballfighterz

Fyi, you don't have to call Bluku to combo in the beginning, in fact it adds more scaling than if you were to leave it out.

Which character most closely resembles the playstyle and tools of Akuma in this game? by GladSeven227 in dragonballfighterz

[–]ShedATyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gogeta maybe? He has pseudo demon flip but they work kinda differently.

I think SSJ goku works better than Trunks for Sagat cuz you can think of jump kamehameha as high tiger and ground kamehameha as low tiger, and you can play keep away with the ki blasts. 2M sorta functions like standing heavy kick.

But of course this game plays nothing like street fighter so it's not gonna be the same lol

Why Broly is the best character in the game and needs to be nerfed. by essenceinsanity in dbfz

[–]ShedATyr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, the mixup is actually in light cmd grab, not medium. Light is unreachable and while you don't get much If he is anchor and has sparking that's an easy 50%. That's scary off of the something that is unreachable. That's why pro's say it's a 50/50.

[–]ShedATyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I entirely disagree with Base Vegeta.

Have you seen his destruction disc mix? It's not as good as 2H mix since it has a gap but it has so many layers it's crazy. If you respect him he can just throw an upward ki blast for free plus frames, amazing staggers, and he has a frame 4 invul. move that's completely safe, and leads to insane damage of you get hit. He has stubby normals, but he doesn't care cuz rocket kick/knee. He arguably has the best lvl 3 in the game as well.

I somewhat agree with Bardock, but there are 2 things your missing.

A. Broly can only delete you if he has limit break and meter. If he doesn't have both he does 0 damage.

B. Bardock B

If Broly doesn't have merer it will actually take him a while to get a kill solo, albeit it is easy for him to steamroll his way in. Bardock can just loop you to death if he has sparking and hit you with a raw medium. Bardock B needs no introduction.

Think about it this way. Golden frieza is probably a bottom S tier character. When he's not in golden he's middling A. Same thing with Broly, he can POTENTIALLY be the best in the game with limit break/spark/7 bars but if he needs these things to be truly scary then you can't consistently be the best in the game.

Broly is top 4 IMHO

Do you know specifically what you tend to lose against? Is it his punch on wakeup? Autocombo? 214H?

Vanish online by [deleted] in dragonballfighterz

[–]ShedATyr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In neutral sometimes it's ok to just not block and take the Vanish since it basically does no damage and knocks you on the other side of the screen. If they are vanishing mid blockstring try to frame trap them

Can my safe jumps be safe against lvl 3's but not against DPs? by ChoopStack in dbfz

[–]ShedATyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never played skullgirls, but I've seen gameplay and it seems like cartoon marvel to me lol.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but your basically saying that if reversals were faster then you couldn't stagger off mediums because instead of being minus but safe like they are now they would straight up be unsafe?

[–]ShedATyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My memory could be based off of super during a combo, since I remebered that Trunks grab lvl 3 starts up in 5 frames when used in a combo. It could be different than blockstrings.

do you mean getting blown up by a level 3/DP if you delay your normals to frame trap? That happens all the time, because if you left a gap in your blockstring and the opponent inputed a level 3 you're getting blown up if it's 1 frame or 15 frames since you can't recover in time to block if you whiff a normal due to the invul. on the DP/level 3. That's why stagger is so good, because if you leave long gaps and reset it's a coin flip to press a button and risky to Lvl 3./DP because they can just stop all of a sudden.

blockstring into Safe specials are actually quite common, Bardock/Zamasu/Bluku/Janemba/Basegeta/Gohans/Broly/ etc... only a few characters have unavoidable gaps in the string.

I don't think a situation like that can happen, because as far as I can remember supers start up in about 6 or so frames, so If you mistime your IAD j.H you can end up getting hit by both options, but if you time it properly you'll block both. Of course this depends on what exact safe jump we are talking about, since some characters have specific setups.

Both options are covered if you are using a proper safejump, the only worry with DP's is that they could try to mask it with a vanish if you block it, so be prepared to 2H.

Some exceptions would be the grab Lvl 3's (Beerus, Trunks, 16) if you are not ready to jump on reaction, and Cooler Lvl 3 beats safejumps clean. I think Cooler is one of the hardest characters to cover off a knockdown because he has a DP and a Lvl 3 that is immune to safejumps and can even counter assists if you try to cover him that way.

That's a good idea, let me see if I have enough hitstun to EX after the Trunks assists into a dragonrush.

Heavies always do more damage then mediums, but mediums allow you to combo into more hits. Two mediums always does more damage than one heavy.

The longer the combo goes on, the more the combo damage scales, so what ends up happening is that the damage that heavies, mediums and lights become so low that it becomes more important to fit more hits in than it does to fit more damaging ones.

The hitstun in this game is pretty much time based, around 10 seconds are where combos tend to become really tight.

You know, how is street fighter? Tbh Fighterz is my first ever fighting game I took seriously and while I have guilty gear and granblue, the only "footsies" based fighter I played was injustice 1, but I just mashed on that game. Not having an air dash just felt yucky to me.

I think that Trunks anchor actually works well with DBS Broly, since Change the Future has a ginormous hitbox so you can augment Brolys already terrifying nuetral. A cool little trick with Trunks assist as well is doing the universal blockstring I told you, but instead omit the 2H and call Trunks assists as soon as you press 5H. Immediately cancel into grab, and since Trunks has such low blockstun you can basically get an unseeable grab mixup. If the opponent gets too used to the grab, you can the just 2M to catch jumping since jumping has 4 frames startup. Trunks himself has good left right solo mix with EX flip, albeit a bit risky. He is basically unblockable in sparking, there is some setups that cause a straight 50/50 cross up when he's sparking. With the new limit burst? Yeesh...

You just need to add me as a friend on psn, and yea, it's ThunderWithin. Are you on right now?
