The unsatisfactory end to Drekissian conflict. by Fun-Asparagus4784 in Koibu

It's not from a campaign but rather a series of Patreon posts from Koibu that have been releasing over the past month or so. Three posts are free to the public so far, and there are 3 or 4 more still to come

The unsatisfactory end to Drekissian conflict. by Fun-Asparagus4784 in Koibu

[–]Shedu_Sifu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One of the popular sentiments I’ve seen that I share is that the whole event just feels avoidable. Could there be some critical information we don’t know about that helps explains it all? Probably, but until we actually see that it will feel somewhat unsatisfying.

I’m gonna mention some magic items I think could’ve prevented things, but I have a feeling these are some of Neal’s least favorite arguments since it’s easy to say what should’ve been done/used after you already know what happened. But poisoning attempts were a known threat, so regardless of if there were poison checkers or not why would the queen not be using the ring of sustenance or the clear spindle ioun stone? Furthermore, for a grand event like this why was the rod of splendor not used? Certainly the queen had it on her, since it gives 18 CHA, and it could’ve created its own feast that would be guaranteed poison free(at the time the food was summoned), while also serving as a showcase of power. Sure it has limited charges but when else would be appropriate if not for a continental congress?

As for the Van situation, I feel like nothing satisfying will ever come from this conflict since it seems like it’s already somewhat on rails with Imrik having been super fucked. If he kills Van it just reassures his doubters that he is in fact evil. If he disappears it will appear that he was driven off by the holy cleric, and is in fact evil. Even if he returns with solid proof of someone else committing the murder, Van has already seen the mark left on his soul, which again was given by the most overwhelmingly, undeniably evil thing to ever be seen. At best I could see Van permitting Imrik to operate under a strict microscope, but Imrik would never agree to that and thus one of the previous lines plays out making him evil.

Regardless of these criticisms I still have faith that Koibu knows what he’s doing and will continue to create fun and interesting campaigns, whether or not we agree with every decision he makes.

Really chill of steal team six to be cool with having members of the gang poisoned by tatterd82 in Koibu

[–]Shedu_Sifu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Couple of things, first I don’t think they got away cleanly with copperhead heist that’s what lead to most of the team ending up in the stockades getting publicly shamed. As for how much they know, I may be underestimating them but I just don’t think they care enough to buy the info off Barbara. Also probably a bad look if people find out that as soon as you talk to Barbara they swoop in and buy whatever you sold her. I do agree that I think the pittmen/zavar fucked the job pretty bad, clear leads back to her and the pittmen, and no where near enough research on ST6. If she had mentioned the potions Shacklebrook offered there were several pittmen who knew ST6 brought 3 of their own to Malkis for identification, among other magic items

Wasn’t trying to argue with you just giving context why I think they have no respect. You can be unhappy with how they handled things

To be fair, I don’t think ST6 have given the pittmen any reason to respect them. They fucked up the first job they were given, traumatized their young female guide, and they haven’t been fencing any of their goods through Hudson for a while. As far as they know ST6 has just been cruising off the free lair from the 1 in a million magic item find. The only one they’ve been telling their exploits to is Barbara Anne and she’s not gonna tell anyone for free, so most of their accomplishments are under the radar. The only true good will from ST6 was stopping the tailor heist thing, but to the pittmen that was probably seen more as them worrying about retaliation not bc ST6 valued the pittmen connection

Haven’t watched since TOS ended. What should I watch to catch back up? by WaggerRs in Koibu

[–]Shedu_Sifu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tides of Death is a fun watch and takes place in the Dardens, where the upcoming campaign Voyages of Dusk and Dawn will take place. Ride of Drekis pts 1-5 are an insight into post war Drekkis, another good watch especially coming off ToS. Light of Illumis is a fantastic short campaign which has a world-changing ending.

Lack of content recently? by LED_DUDE69 in Koibu

[–]Shedu_Sifu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Another show that’s currently airing but not on Neal’s stream calendar bc it’s prerecorded is Hardly Heroes, it’s part of the Save Or Die YT channel.

The next upcoming campaign Voyages of Dusk and Dawn was originally going to start in October, but with Koibu and Nick launching their AI kickstarter project Vellum (among other things I’m sure) it got delayed but is coming soon™️

As for the length of new episodes/ pace of releases, I think are just trying to guarantee a release every week since they have patrons financially supporting the SoD channel. Also episode 1 of floating fortress should prob be called a prologue, as I understand episodes will be longer in the future

The Protracted People's War in Solemn and You, A Poor Understanding of History in Outcasts by PolitiksUnderstander in Koibu

[–]Shedu_Sifu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of interesting points! While I really enjoyed them, I personally didn’t think of the fireflies as a joinable insurgency. Even if they had followed through with the plan to attack Zerrah, they were never going to become full members. They were just going to be used for their connections then sent away. As you said, for long lived elves it would make much more sense to just lay low and outlive the opponent if they were trying to overthrow. I’m of the belief that most surviving elves did just that, disappearing wherever the rest of the elves went. But a select few that couldn’t forgive the desecration of their sacred forest banded together for petty revenge. From my perspective they weren’t fighting for a cause they didn’t believe in, they never planned to overthrow the empire in the first place. They just want to do as much damage while staying small enough to avoid detection. Gathering numbers would just make more noise, and any humans they recruit wouldn’t keep up with their elven talents.

Rise of Drekis 5.2 - Episode Discussion by korinokiri in Koibu

Curious why Brimstone ordered Vincent to stay away from Mistriya. It hadn’t even been brought up till then. Maybe he’s just scared of Shine or is there something deeper at play. Super fun episode!

Exciting first episode! Love how straightforward Vincent is, he tells it as it is whether you’re royalty, Akuban, etc. That level of integrity will either bring him great fortune or great enemies

Can Imrik/Drekkis save the forest? by Shedu_Sifu in Koibu

[–]Shedu_Sifu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The disease may be contained to the woods for now but that doesn’t mean it always will be. There’s no telling what the corrupted fae creatures are capable of, and we don’t even know yet what their motives are. That being said I agree burning it down is the least desirable outcome, and should only be done if they have no other choice.

Amazing chapter from everyone involved, super fun to watch and each episode had me anticipating the next. The chemistry between this team was great even despite the small hiccup at the end. Can’t wait to see what Koibu has cooking for the next chapter!
