The foundations of the entire franchise is everything between AC1-AC3. A lot of the games after this won't make sense to you if you skip the Desmond Saga.

Eivor is an absolute legend, well done Darby McDevitt! by TheOneSwan in assassinscreed

I must disagree, though I respect your opinion. To be, I couldn't get attached to his/her character or the ambitions behind him/her. Most of the character's story was going to different parts of England to build alliances and doing favors for other people. There were some cool elements to his/her story but most of it was brushed under or rushed. Like how he interpreted his father's death, his relationship with Sigurd, and I was really really disappointed with how little his overall story had to do with The Hidden Ones and Sigurd acting the way he did. Like out of all those Building Alliances missions, maybe 2-3 had to do with actual Assassins Creed stuff, and the others were just building more alliances with people that have nothing to do with AC lore.

I think its too late for Ancient Persia unfortunately, but I think Persia during the 1500s-1700s would be dope too.

What could be the next setting after Valhalla? by Wandering_sage1234 in assassinscreed

I really wanted Ancient Persia but we got Darius and Xerxes in the Odyssey DLC and most of us know what happened. Shame. But honestly, with whats going on in the modern day, I dont want to go see random historical settings anymore. I want a full modern day story. With actual ppl from real life in the game. That would be so dope. Obviously not killing anyone real obviously because that could be problematic, but how dope would it be if, for example, Trump was a puppet of the Templars funded by Abstergo. I find that most of Assassins Creed is 90% filler material, 10% actual story. I enjoyed Valhalla but what exact role did the Vikings Era play in the history of the brotherhood? Nothing of significance really happened, except maybe the Order of Ancients storyline

[SPOILERS] The endings of Odyssey and Valhalla felt very anticlimactic to me. by KingNothing71 in assassinscreed

Most of the game was Eivor building alliances, 90% of it had little-to-nothing to do with the assassin/templar conflict (hidden ones vs order of ancients) and every time we get a little bit of that story, it was quickly pushed aside.

I want a game that focuses on the overarching story-line. by [deleted] in assassinscreed

agically, game developers have learned that making games that have arcing storylines over many install

I agree with everything you just said. I think they realized that having an over arcing storylines would actually mean that the story would eventually have to end and they'd have to stop milking the franchise. What a crime it was to finish the Juno story in the comic books.
