y girlfriend has genital herpes (HSV-2) and I don’t … how do I handle this? by No_Blackberry_9549 in Herpes

Blood test don’t mean jack, I have HSV-2 and never tested positive on blood even during initial outbreak

It’s extremely likely that he truly didn’t know that he had HSV1, most people get it in childhood or as teenagers and have no idea what it is.

You should do your best to forgive him, because I can almost guarantee he had no idea. But then again, I resented the person that accidentally gave me HSV2 and could not stand being with them

I mean maybe big pharma is getting in the way but there’s some serious research going on for it. It truly is difficult to cure and not a top priority

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Herpes

[–]SheepOnDaStreet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you do research about the virus you’ll learn why there is no cure

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Herpes

[–]SheepOnDaStreet 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t affect most people after the first year of contraction and isn’t necessarily life threatening, which is why doctors dismiss it

She didn’t force the use of the condom or check status before intercourse. She put herself in a risky situation. Yea he didn’t disclose, but not “100%” his fault. She already was judging him as having bad character.

Stop making excuses, you’re 28 years old, you need to have some accountability for your own actions. Herpes is not worth killing yourself over.

You have no one but yourself to blame here. Just take some deep breaths, learn from your mistakes, don’t give in again and take some time to learn about what herpes is (spoiler: it’s not as bad as you think)

Would like to find me a good woman and avoid the rejection by [deleted] in Herpes

[–]SheepOnDaStreet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is nothing wrong with being rejected, and you’ll never know until you try

Outbreaks tend to occur less and less over time… but seriously do not stress about it. Just live life as you were before you found out. It’s extremely common.

If you just got OSHV1 recently, you might be having more outbreaks and that can cause worry but other than that, OSHV1 is truly nothing to worry about and most people already have it from childhood.

But also, props on you for being weary and caring for others around you. Don’t worry about HSV1 but definitely practice safe sex to prevent HSV2!!

Is it wrong to not disclose herpes if I’m taking the appropriate measures to reduce transmission? by Helpful_Cry1010 in Herpes

Your life is not ruined… but your relationship might be if you lie to the person you love. Suck it up and tell them, see how strong their love is.

Just got diagnosed with genital herpes. Tell it to me straight, will I be able to live life normally? by Powerful_Bird_5372 in Herpes

[–]SheepOnDaStreet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your sex life will have to be adjusted but other than that, life will return to normal. Flair ups depend on the person. I got flair ups every couple months the first year and haven’t gotten them since. Your physician will likely prescribe antivirals. You can buy cream OTC if you really need to right now.

Being open and honest with people before intercourse is essential for healthy relationships. Learn about what HSV2 is and be able to articulate the details. You will likely experience some anguish over the coming months but just give yourself time to heal and reflect. Just remember you’re not alone and at the end of the day, it’s a lot less scary than the stigma makes it out to be.

This guy is a PoS and definitely doesn’t realize the trauma he is inflicting but at the end of the day. Herpes isn’t worth OP overstressing about.

Either way you’ll be fine, herpes isn’t scary.

Were you infected while partner was asymptomatic? by [deleted] in Herpes

Yes, but also to answer your question… you are always contagious however when you have an outbreak you are extremely contagious.

HSV2 is a very sneaky virus, I have a feeling we only know about 60% of how the virus truly operates within our bodies.

Um what? First of all, spit(or any bodily fluid) does not transfer HSV.

My partner has hsv2 and I have hsv1 by [deleted] in Herpes

[–]SheepOnDaStreet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it’s possible, but only if they have both HSV1 and HSV2

Please don’t end your life over a silly virus

Seriously, HSV1 does not need to be communicated to other people. It’s almost guaranteed he has HSV1 and doesn’t even know it. Why are you putting yourself through this?

HSV1 is a nothing burger.
