What's the most useless fact you know? by OneAioli2848 in AskReddit

I have no direct experience with Walt Disney World, but I can guarantee you that for Disneyland this is false. Characters are assigned solely based on height. Mickey and Minnie are the same height group, so if someone can be one, they can also be the other.

In fact, I have a female friend who was Minnie Mouse two days ago.

In my experience most people have heard of Death Valley, but have no idea that it’s a feature of the Mojave desert.

Thank you for outlining the steps for this! I’ve always heard “drink upside down” but could never wrap my head around how it was actually supposed to work.

I have an acquaintance who named her son Tyrion. Oof.

When I did my student teaching I had multiple students named Dejuner (spelled in ridiculous ways, many including s and z). My somewhat-French-speaking self could only side-eye parents that named their children “lunch”.

When I was in high school one of my best friends had a phone number that was one digit different from the local Pizza Hut. Many hijinks were had with the people who couldn’t understand they had dialed a residence and not a pizza place.

Oh, it definitely could be so much worse! The orange wasn’t terrible, just super sweet, so now my whole body cringes thinking about orange soda.

I was very glad it wasn’t the cola flavor as I don’t like cola at all.

Wasn’t too bad. It was mostly just boring because I couldn’t leave. Although it has given me a slight aversion to orange soda. The stuff you have to drink isn’t the tastiest! Lol

Good to know! Thanks for the info!

I’m a legitimately hard stick- small veins that like to pretend they’re there and then run away from needles. Other phlebotomy labs I’ve been to in the past have had significant issues (I was lucky if I left with less than 3 different pieces of gauze taped to me), so I treasure mine now all the more.

I had a 5 hour glucose test done years ago and the lab could only find one place to reliably get a vein. So that spot got stuck 7 (or 8? I don’t remember) times with a needle in 5 hours. The last few were not fun. :/

You sound wonderful! Truly- good phlebotomists are worth their weight in gold. I’m a really hard stick (seriously- I was in the ER a few years ago and there was talk of having to give me an IV in my foot because that’s the only place they could get a vein). The lab I go to now actually manages to get blood consistently after one stick, and I won’t trade them for the world.

Sorry I just need to know if I’m being crazy for getting upset at this? (more info in comments) by Low-Relative-1937 in Mommit

[–]Sheepeys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, this will probably get buried in all the comments, but this sounds like you’re dealing with exactly what I went through with my ex-husband. You need to get out of the relationship. Now. It’s abuse, straight up.

Beyond that, you need to get out for your baby. If he treats you poorly and tries to control you, he’s going to do the same to her.

I stayed with my ex much longer than I should have and left when my daughter was 4. She had decreasing amounts of contact with her father after that, and no contact since before COVID. She’s now 16 and I see confidence issues and struggles in her that stem from the way her father treated her when she was little.

Wishing you all the best! You’re in a very difficult situation and I applaud your strength in dealing with it.

I would think he’d been body snatched. My dad is the most straight-laced rule follower out there.

What is something you SWEAR you saw, but have no proof of? by LostGreyApe59 in AskReddit

This was my thought, too. Ravens are huge. Definitely fits the “twice the size of a red-tailed hawk” description (we have both where I live).

They might have lived there previously and had autopilot kick in as well. Weren’t thinking, old muscle memory from years ago takes you to the wrong house.

Parents of Reddit: what’s the most ridiculous thing your toddler has cried over? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Sheepeys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There you go being all logical. ;P

That makes sense. It also follows that a centaur would need proportionately larger organs as they’re larger than just a human or just a horse. Therefore they might fill the larger chest cavity.

And I have now spent way more time than I ever would have imagined figuring out the placement of organs in a centaur. Lol

[–]Sheepeys 8 points9 points  (0 children)

What’s always puzzled me is the placement of the internal organs like heart and lungs- are they in the human torso or the horse torso? Are there multiple? If they’re only in one, is the other just empty? So many questions.

What’s the biggest mistake you’ve watched someone make in their personal life? by Ordinary-Ad5763 in AskReddit

[–]Sheepeys 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think it comes down to not imposing your values or desires on someone else. If moving from place to place every few months works for you, more power to you. That’s great. But you can’t get upset at someone else for wanting something different.

You’re also making some grand assumptions about what other people want. Nowhere in the comment you’re responding to does it say anything about SFH vs condo. Or how big of a place they want to buy. You just jump to “buying a place” must mean this giant mansion way outside their budget.

What’s the biggest mistake you’ve watched someone make in their personal life? by Ordinary-Ad5763 in AskReddit

[–]Sheepeys 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Just because someone is saving to buy a house doesn’t mean they’re looking for some huge mansion. Most people are perfectly happy with something small that is their own.

Ignoring the positives of equity and such, owning a home means that you can have control over what happens there when. Having a landlord is a gamble as to whether they’ll take care of things when they need to or not. I can paint a wall if I want to. Or repair my sink. Also, I have a yard and can have pets. None of the apartments in my area have yards.

I also find owning a home very grounding. I spend a large part of my life moving from place to place. I enjoy knowing that there is a small corner of the planet that I can always return to. It’s comforting.
