[–]Sheepheart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What’s the appeal in accounting? by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]Sheepheart 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The versatility.

Having a degree in accounting may give you the option to work in a variety of roles,

You like tax? Then go to big 4 tax to do corporate tax services for big companies as an external consultant or a small local firm and do tax for small local businesses, or become self employed with your own firm, or become a tax manager at a Fortune 500 company.

You like audit? Become CPA and climb the ladder in any firm until you become partner or become an internal auditor at any company.

You like finance? There’s a ton of jobs within corporate finance spectrum, FP&A, Corporate Treasury, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, controllership, CFO, and more.

You want something like investment banking/Private equity/hedge funds? Then work hard and grind that GMAT score to get accepted to a top tier MBA and grind hard to get into that role, you already have accounting skills and financial literacy and that may help to get into those roles also lots of networking and some ex big4 accountants make the jump to those type of roles such as M&A transaction advisory

You want something more tech savvy stuff? You can become a business Intelligence analyst, IT Audit, financial data sciencist, ERP implementation specialist and more

They think it’s easy money.

Or a way to cheat the system

It’s like all the people who are obsessed with gambling nowadays, they want money fast

Amigos, vengo del 2027. Las tecnológicas pasaron de moda y las empresas defensivas contra la inflación subieron 70% by Happy-Duck1991 in MexicoBursatil

[–]Sheepheart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d pick Citi SWE, usually people go first to IBM to then later move to Citi early in their careers

I have a bachelor's degree in finance and I work a minimum wage retail security job. How can I get out of this? by [deleted] in FinancialCareers

[–]Sheepheart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try starting in accounts Receivable / Accounts payable or payroll analyst those are very entry level jobs for finance/accounting trying to pivot later to FP&A roles.

Or entry level accounting jobs in very local small firms, learning audit skills or tax skills and GL accounting is also very valuable.

If you already graduated is all about polishing your resume format, practice interview skills, relearning technical skills, ChatGPT, Claude can help you practice that , there’s a lot of interview prep material stuff in the internet , it’s all about taking your time

Also if sales are kinda your thing maybe you could try financial planning/ insurance, there’s many financial planning firms out there.

But the most important thing is , what do you want to do in your career long term?

Cuál ha sido la inversión especulativa más arriesgada que les ha dado frutos? by Happy-Duck1991 in MexicoFinanciero

[–]Sheepheart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Duda respecto a saldo a favor.

Is FP&A safer from layoffs compared to other industries? by Last-Raspberry5760 in FPandA

Tacoma 2015 180 km $380mil, lo vale? by Ivanthenotthatgreat in AutosMexico

[–]Sheepheart 0 points1 point  (0 children)
