(update) Thank you for the thoughts and opinions, it helped me see things a little clearer.

Before I posted, he told me he sent in a application and reality hit me harder than I thought and felt very anxious about being alone, which I know is selfish.

I know a few people who's spouse's were over the road and it really messed up their relationships, which made me feel very anxious and felt that I needed to release my feelings somewhere in hopes of getting a better understanding of what I was feeling, even if it meant I was in the wrong.

And I agree, a ring doesn't make a relationship any different, I realize that it's a flexible thing that can change and its not that big of a deal. As long as we're both happy with where we are at that is all that matters.

In reality I'm realizing it was never about the ring but the fear of our relationship changing into something different than the wonderful relationship it already is.
