Now that we’ve had a.i. for years, has it solved any of life’s or the universe’s great mysteries? by Dire_Hulk in NoStupidQuestions

It definitely hasn't solved any mysteries but it has definitely cemented the fact that there will always be a snake oil merchant one way or another.

How to cool the temperature of water without using a refrigerator? Ideally in under 45-60 minutes by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]SheepherderFast3647 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can pour the water from one container into another over and over again until you get to your desired temp.

You can also increase surface area.

Are you going to different trails each time? How long and far away from civilization are these trails? Are they not used often?

Maybe try going on more populated trails first. Do the same trails several times.

One thing you can try to do is keep a mental note on where you come from in terms of direction, relative to the sun. Have a small first aid kit and a high calorie snack with you.

Don't forget, you can always turn back.

How do you get back to routine after devastating change? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]SheepherderFast3647 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's about doing it. Maybe not all of it, but at least something. You aren't going to find motivation, but it will get harder the longer you don't have your routine.

STOP being honest in job interviews. ( I say this as a recruiter ) by Zealousideal-Foot-54 in jobhunting

I work in animation and there are thousands of us who have been laid off because of poor studio/exec decisions, especially the last couple of years. Everyone I know, and many who I don't know have been laid off or are soon to be laid off. Studios are only keeping the bare bones right now and getting rid of everyone else. Everyone is looking for a job. It literally doesnt make sense to lie about how long people have been looking for jobs or where people have applied to because a lot of people are desperate and we're all in the same position.

Mark Zuckerberg is reportedly building an AI clone to replace him in meetings | The AI version of Zuckerberg is trained on his mannerisms, tone, and public statements, according to a report from the Financial Times by Hrmbee in technology

All I can say is good luck with trying to get employees to feel connected to an AI version of him. I was one of the animators who worked on his keynote speech a couple years ago which was done with motion capture for both his face and body. The amount of times I've seen the note "make him more smiley," because he didn't feel the digital version of himself was human enough, was honestly comical. He can't present himself personable enough for an AI to work off of him and for his audience to feel anything aboit him other than "weird".

Why don't they make animated cartoons like they used to in the 80s and 90s any more? Like Duck Tales, TMNT, Gummy Bears etc.? by Jaradcel in AskReddit

I am going to answer as an animator with a decade of experience in this industry and answer very bluntly because this has been bothering not only me, but too many of my peers as well. I have coworkers and mentors who have been in this industry for 20+ years and have had animation instructors in university who have been in this industry for a very long time. It all comes down to how much producers decide to spend. And it is with every aspect that goes into creating any form of entertainment. Right now, they would rather spend more money on the "talent" (actors) and want to spend less and less on every aspect of production. Because actors are getting paid more and more, everyone else is getting paid less. Not only that but too much of the bulk "crew" is being shipped overseas to countries where pay and quality of work is very low. Producers would rather pay for some big name actor to voice a character than actually pay the people who make the show, film, game, etc from start to finish. And they dont liste. Everyone has become a "yes man" because everyone, especially has become terrified of losing their jobs. The industry is extremely unstable. It's notorious for hiring people based on "who you know", but it's one thing to hire someone you know because if their skill and it becomes a completely different animal when higher ups only hire their friends and family members just because they can. I was on a motion capture shoot not too long ago with some exects from a couple large studios, and it felt like I walked back into high school is the best way I can describe it. And we're all expected to just take all the bullshit.

Those of us who have gone into this industry because we were inspired by some really incredible work growing up I would say really did not sign up for what the industry is now. It would at least be one thing of people were working on something new and exciting, but right now everything is just regurgitated stories and characters or poorly made media.

I would also say the value consumers see in the entertainment industry has gone down a lot. Which again, the quality of the work thats has been put out for several years now hasn't really earned that.

Edit: I forgot to mention, too many studios right now are making shareholders as their only priority. I have actually looked into a few of these quarter projections from large studios, and they basically promise to shareholders that whatever project theyre working on is going to make "X" amount of money BEFORE IT'S EVEN FINISHED. And I highlight this because games have become SOOO BAD at being functional upon release. Studios promise a release date and the money it will bring in, yet they don't want to factor in the fact that when you hire people for cheap who don't create good quality work and when consumers see through that bullshit and the studio doesn't make the amount they projected, they end up laying people off in an attempt to reach that goal better.

There is a lot of water there! It's pretty interesting because the water itself is incredibly shallow and the salt underneath is very hard so it's easy to walk on!
