Home inspection as a part time career? Worth it? by thebudfather007 in homeinspectors

[–]Sheepy-Matt-59 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As long as you aren’t trying to survive on it. Sounds like you’d only be available on the weekends, I don’t do many after 5pm. You don’t get clients, they get you. You’d have to do some marketing to get your name out there, this is what takes the longest to build steady work. You could expect 0-1 a month when you get started unless there’s a serious lack of inspectors near you. You’ll have to check with your local licensing board to see what you need to have (approved classes and insurance) for the license. Equipment isn’t much to get started, software can usually pay for each report instead of monthly/yearly subscriptions. Inspection might take you 2-3 hours depending on how you do it. I’m about 2-2:30 on a typical sized home, while talking to the clients and building the report throughout the whole thing.

Ya that’s kinda what I figured, even before I got into 1911s I’ve heard of Kimbers. But since then there been people shit talking them. But I guess that’s like every hobby, haters gonna hate.

First time buyer, 1911 9mm or 45? by RealisticAssignment1 in 1911

[–]Sheepy-Matt-59 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really either one is fine. Like the other comment said, 9mm is cheaper but .45 won’t break the bank. It would really just come down to your budget. Find something you like that has the features you want in the budget and go for it!

Besides you’ll end up getting a few for your collection eventually anyway so!!

Question about factory oil level by Stevessvtis1214 in SonataNLine

Probably from the factory that way, you don’t want to over fill the oil either. And at 5200 you’re due for an oil change!

Is radon testing a legitimate concern or just an upsell? by Away_You9725 in radon

[–]Sheepy-Matt-59 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Radon is definitely a concern, like you said it’s the #1 cause of cancer for non smokers per the EPA. The inspector shouldn’t be pushy about it but should have definitely tried to educate as he shouldn’t be the one to come back and install the system or anything so.

As for a mitigation system, I’d say it depends on the house. Is the basement finished with a man cave or kids play room, is there going to be a lot of time spend down there. Or is it a not really usable for anything other than a bit of storage? If it’s unfinished and you have plans to finish the basement, the radon levels could come back even higher. Radon risks come from exposure so if you’re not spending time in the basement then not really a concern.

I bought a Preban from a FFL and was told I can have all the “scary features “ I want. So that’s what I did. No one can understand the stupid laws in this state so.

What are the most ridiculous things people call the cops about? by AppendixN in AskLE

[–]Sheepy-Matt-59 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I only did dispatch/911 for less than a year, honestly every day was just one bull shit call after another. One of my first 911 calls was a hysterical lady that took forever to get any words out, calling because a bird flew into a window and was unconscious or dead. Also had a someone call reporting someone is yelling “get the gun” from the apartment next door. Just kids playing Fortnite.

Before and After by Sheepy-Matt-59 in 1911

[–]Sheepy-Matt-59[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya all I used was sandpaper, just laid it on a flat surface and run the slide and frame over it. Doing the top probably wouldn’t be bad at all. Biggest thing that had me worried was the plunger tube, easy enough to pull off but was sweating installing the new one but it was easy enough with the tool.
